What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

These two at the moment. Didn't think the little tiny Camillus was going to get here til Thursday, so it was a nice surprise to have it in the mailbox today.

If I'm interpreting the tang stamp correctly, I think this is from 1970s or early 80s, but I'm no expert (and have seen slightly conflicting commentary online, so I dunno).

It needs a bunch of cleanup and a sharpening, but I think it's in pretty good condition overall. Based on the seller's pics, I was thinking it would be a good recover candidate, but these black plastic (Delrin, probably?) slabs are actually in nice shape. It has no snap at the moment, but I don't think that's anything that a good flushing and oiling won't fix.

Hi Tyson,
First I like that knife. Tang is telling me late 70's to 80's. I base this on slanted lettering and line under Camillus. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Bob!

I saw things online for this stamp saying early 70s to early 80s, or mid 70s to early 80s, or late 70s to mid 80s, and I don't know enough to narrow it down. Sometime in the 70s or 80s is probably close enough for me 🤷‍♂️ but now I'm curious if there is a definitive and trustworthy online source for Camillus tang stamps. Do you know of one?

I'm pretty happy with this knife, and I think it will be pretty handy once it's cleaned up a little bit.

You are welcome.
I have never found a place that can narrow it to one specific year, as the time it was made. I know you are like me...nice to know specifics but no matter what, will enjoy the knife.

Are my eyes and glasses so bad the blade looks like a file? Photo has what appears to be horizontal ridges.

I was still in my 20’s when I bought this 293Y brand new. Along with a 33Ot, it’s all I carried for years, and ir dressed out countless rabbits, squirrels, fish, and even a deer. In spite of that, it has held up much better than it’s owner.
Very nice pairing.

My cleanup companion. Small tornado made a mess, but nothing serious.
Glad no serious damage

RLB0414 RLB0414 The tooling grind marks are showing on this recent release from Case in the CPM20CV steel, not sure why? maybe just to further differentiate between the types of steels they are now using?

You can feel it if you run your thumb nail along the sides but it's not a harsh crisp series of grooves
