What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

RLB0414 RLB0414 The tooling grind marks are showing on this recent release from Case in the CPM20CV steel, not sure why? maybe just to further differentiate between the types of steels they are now using?

You can feel it if you run your thumb nail along the sides but it's not a harsh crisp series of grooves

Thank you. Means I do not need new glasses

These two at the moment. Didn't think the little tiny Camillus was going to get here til Thursday, so it was a nice surprise to have it in the mailbox today.

If I'm interpreting the tang stamp correctly, I think this is from 1970s or early 80s, but I'm no expert (and have seen slightly conflicting commentary online, so I dunno).

It needs a bunch of cleanup and a sharpening, but I think it's in pretty good condition overall. Based on the seller's pics, I was thinking it would be a good recover candidate, but these black plastic (Delrin, probably?) slabs are actually in nice shape. It has no snap at the moment, but I don't think that's anything that a good flushing and oiling won't fix.

That S&M looks right at home with the Carpenters Whittler ....... both real beauties !😍😍
You have two beauties....but love that Catt.👍
Great pair, Greg. Hard to beat those two.

Thanks fellas, much appreciated. The Catt whittler is unmistakably a true old timey knife and the Schatt jack is a more recent knife made to replicate one of their patterns from a catalog dating back to just after the turn of the last century. Both give me a nostalgic feeling when holding them. That's not weird is it?😃 Knife nuts understand.;)

I cut my nails, and now I can't get to the main nail nick on my Southington without opening the pen blade.

What a classy old knife there, Jer.

Take Biotin. Your nails will grow faster.😉

I really don’t know why I never snagged a few of those, because I think they’re a fine work knife, and I’ve had the exact same thought about re-covering one.
Just to entice you, here’s a similar, but slightly smaller Klein that I re-handled with rescued dog chew elk antler.034DCA49-5C01-414E-98EA-53FBE5BE13AB.jpeg2A319DA5-D8D8-4E4E-9322-9276D3694D7E.jpeg
Very nice pairing.
Thanks much, RL!
I do not remember even seeing any of those top three, much less being fortunate to have one.
