What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Indeed it is, one of my favorite shows, a shame that it ended way too soon. The wood is actually a couple of pieces of pine I glued together, routed two grooves on the underside which then allows it to rest across my desk drawer when opened, giving me another area to work on, very handy. The way I put the image on there was to print the image in reverse on some wax paper and then carefully layed it down and pressed it evenly so the ink transfered into the wood and then coated the wood with a clear finish.

That’s cool. I absolutely loved that show.

I think he meant how do you tension the spring so it lines up with the blade pin hole when setting the new pins.
Lacking proper cutlery tools like a stiddy, I put a piece of flat steel in the well against the spring, and use a small C clamp to push the spring back enough to drive the pin. Awkward, but it usually works.
Off course, you might be right 🤔. RLB0414 RLB0414 Trial and error in a way. I take a blank piece of brass and make the front and center holes, then I mount the blade and spring and mark the back-hole with a punch. Then I drill the back-hole 2mm above the punch mark and test the tension. The 2mm guide was given to me from a friend who makes his own slipjoints, as a "guide measurement when the spring is more than 3cm from center hole. It usually works, but sometimes one needs to adjust before making the final template :)

Close pto an inch on the ground at dawn, but it’s melting fast.

I’ve tried mating a Schrade blade with Camillus spring, but no go.

Thanks. A video I found showed the guy installing the end pins and then using a vise to push the spring in until the center pin went in. Sounds similar to what you did.

I want to do a blade delete on a buck 317 but was not sure about getting everything restored properly so it looks and functions correctly. Sounds like new pins, which I have and a mechanical means to move spring into place.

Your Scrimshaw Schrade barlow just might be my favorite out of your fine collection. But the blue and orange Victorinox is a close contender.👌

Thank you very much Jeff, you know my big problem luckily is choosing what I like best. I think I like them all, even those that are old and don't have a brand, however I love Victorinox, because that's where I started!!!
But..., I always have one that is almost always in my pocket and that is the GEC 73 stag and 440c.👍

That is one of the most beautiful knife/shield combinations I’ve ever seen!
😍
Wonderful pairing of your slipjoint and fixie Mr.P.😃
I was about at the limit of my talent inlaying plain round fret markers on a guitar fingerboard. I cannot imagine trying an inlay of a buck’s head! 🤙

Thank you porchsters ! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:😊

Jeff .... he did a fine job ..... the shield is thick and inlaid nicely into the stag. I was afraid of the antlers being fragile, but, after I got it, those worries went away. 😊

Cleaned up the stuff from the Car Boot Sale and put it to use.

50p each for the solid metal tape measure, old shears (ladys, I found out today, but big fingerholes) and screwdriver,I like that size and handle its gone in my pry and punch section.

50p for the old childhood memorys annual and a wopping £1.50 for the up to date waterproof map.😍

I was given to much change so went back to pay this the old feller.

Turns out he was the former parts manager (60 years he did that) at a bike shop I used to go in and he recognised me,I had only ever seen him in good health behind the counter.

He wouldn't take the money back so I bought some of his wife's marmalade and we had a great chat.

He and his wife are not in the best of health,I gave him a shoulder to lean on by listening to him.

Thats what I meant about honesty yesterday, if I hadnt gone back for a pound we wouldnt have got talking,it made my day though it also made me a little sad.

Still onwards and sidewards (it seems nowadays) 😁
