Decided to do a run of freeze dried apples this afternoon.

Start with a bushel of apples:

Peel, core and slice as many as can fit on the trays, which is about 1/3 of a bushel.

Load into freeze drier… and wait.

In about 48 hours, these will be freeze dried, and I will seal them in some Mylar bags. Shelf life is a couple decades, and these make great snacks for trips into the woods. I don’t have any more bags of apples, but here are some strawberries from last year as an example of the final product. Delicious.

Wow, that's an impressive shelf life 😎👍

Very nice choices for your walk. I still think the shotgun is a good idea, though.
Some of the neighbors have spotted a large male coyote prowling their backyards in broad daylight. I don’t know what’s going on with him, but I’m surprised he hasn’t been shot yet. One lady thought it was a wolf. But they’re freaking out over it.
I’ve been strapping on a gun when I’m working outside, but so far, all it’s done is kind of get in the way.

Thank you for telling me about your coyote problems. I thought coyote described that bunch in the death wish truck very nicely. Maybe I will think of them as coyote hybrids ( hunts in packs .... not much good at hunting alone ) from now on. I expect their actions are not limited to me ....... maybe they will get locked away before too long.
I'll change my walk times to early mornings when the heat turns on, in about a month ....... then they'll likely be asleep, if I have them pegged right. ;) 😊
Nice Schrade !!😍

Pennington Contractor Seed Mix only 5 days on the ground
And awoke this morning to discover first baby grass

I'd used the Pennington Contractors Seed Mix elsewhere on the property several years ago with great success and figured I'd try it again.
Maybe seed isn't as good as using sod but I can't argue with the results. Online reviews are "mixed" and the seed mix is said to be geographically appropriate, so results will vary.
Regardless, I've also tried other seed over the years and can't argue with Pennington. Hands down the best seed, for my location anyway.

Today, it's the Artisan Cutlery Tactical Knife Proponent S35VN steel blade and Aviation grade titanium alloy handle!
