Thank you, Todd. Was that a 68 you were carrying yesterday? Very sweet.
Thanks, yes it was. In my opinion, it had particular ugly stag with no redeeming features at all. So I sanded it a little and then jigged it. The other side turned out better because there was more material to work with, but the color isn’t as interesting. IMG_9561-compressed.jpeg
I carried my stag 25 yesterday and finally made it back to the beads I had started a week or two ago.

I carried my wharncliffe trapper today. Bad picture that I snapped quickly while I was working.

Nice carry Jack. 😎👍

What type, specific brand and model, do you recommend. Will peaches work well?
I use a medium size Harvest Right. I sometimes wish it was a large so I could process more at a time. There may be a couple new companies producing these now, but Harvest Right was the only name in the personal freeze dryer game for a while.

Peaches work well, but the prep can be time consuming. You need to core, peel and slice them up. The only fruit I have had issues with so far is blueberries and grapes. The skin is too thick to leave them whole, so each individual grape or blueberry needs to be cut in half. Just not worth the effort. Apples and strawberries are our favorites so far.

Soups work really well, especially lentil or vegetable soups. Great, lightweight meals to take camping or hiking. We also freeze dry excess eggs from our chickens to make powdered eggs. Can use them in baking recipes, or to make scrambled eggs.
