What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I was looking for a stout, inexpensive large stockman to replace my old Imperial beater/nail breaker. Looks as if this 371 will do nicely...

I’ve got this sweet little Imperial Barlow with me today! Found it recently for the princely sum of $7 at an antique shop. Other than patina it’s in the excellent condition. I tuned the edges a little today and will add it to my rotation.

Indeed James! 👍🏻
Mine keeps disappearing from my car fob. I know the lady to question🤔...the purple may have something to do with it.
I supplied Mrs Fleschwund with a Vic Classic, and a Leatherman. I even wove a small paracord fob for the SAK.
The little Swiss Army Classic is lost somewhere in the bottom of her purse, and the Leatherman is somewhere down in her armrest console in her Rav4.
Too bulky I guess…

Today's carry on this rainy day : Long and Regular Washington Jack .

Nicely photographed to show that camel bone.👌
Decided to do a run of freeze dried apples this afternoon.

Start with a bushel of apples:

Peel, core and slice as many as can fit on the trays, which is about 1/3 of a bushel.

Load into freeze drier… and wait.

In about 48 hours, these will be freeze dried, and I will seal them in some Mylar bags. Shelf life is a couple decades, and these make great snacks for trips into the woods. I don’t have any more bags of apples, but here are some strawberries from last year as an example of the final product. Delicious.

Awesome. Maybe I’ll ask for a Harvest Right for next Christmas.
Tell me about vegetables ~ how welll does it work on them?
You picked well!🤙
The holster is kydex mounted in leather? Who made it?

My Sunday chillin around the house carry.
The fixed blade is a Schatt & Morgan and the Whittler is Gutmann 10-135.
I hope y'all are having a fine weekend.
Love the fat stag ~ very traditional.
A schatt and the 93 lamb today.

Beautiful. Prickly, but pretty.
2015 Canal Street Forum Knife
440C Bocote wood, Bare headed, Serpentine Jack
Very light in the pocket. The clip blade is to die for.

I’d never realized that y’all chose to delete the spay on that one like we did on the Buck Forum knife. A lot of porchsters don’t like speys for some reason…
Maybe too anatomical?
That’s a nice knife!
So far I'm coming up with sawcut Delrin for Micarta Monday

Between that and my yellow Trapper, I carried my 33 for decades.
Really don’t “need” anything else.
I carried my stag 25 yesterday and finally made it back to the beads I had started a week or two ago.

I carried my wharncliffe trapper today. Bad picture that I snapped quickly while I was working.

Very cool. I should try that. My daughter loves beads.
Thanks, yes it was. In my opinion, it had particular ugly stag with no redeeming features at all. So I sanded it a little and then jigged it. The other side turned out better because there was more material to work with, but the color isn’t as interesting. View attachment 2171109

Sweet nice Bart and a very cool project.
😎👍

Nice carry Jack. 😎👍
Great work, Todd.
Part of the skill in jigging is knowing when to stop…
I use a medium size Harvest Right. I sometimes wish it was a large so I could process more at a time. There may be a couple new companies producing these now, but Harvest Right was the only name in the personal freeze dryer game for a while.

Peaches work well, but the prep can be time consuming. You need to core, peel and slice them up. The only fruit I have had issues with so far is blueberries and grapes. The skin is too thick to leave them whole, so each individual grape or blueberry needs to be cut in half. Just not worth the effort. Apples and strawberries are our favorites so far.

Soups work really well, especially lentil or vegetable soups. Great, lightweight meals to take camping or hiking. We also freeze dry excess eggs from our chickens to make powdered eggs. Can use them in baking recipes, or to make scrambled eggs.

Thanks for the details.
Great old S&W!
This morning has that fresh, after-thunderstorm feel. Hope you all have a great Monday.

Schrades Walden Jack and. KA-BAR Loom Fixer

I have and am very fond of both of those!
I got my Kabar with a last moment bid while walking into a Nebraska truckstop on I80 in the middle of a blizzard trying to find stuff to get the Uhaul trailer lights to work.
The things I remember…

I have not seen any other Kabars like that before yours today! I did an internet search on it and found that besides Loom Fixer,, kabar also callef it a Boston Whaler. It’s an absolutely great knife, with perfect snap.

I took this one apart, and handled it with smooth stag (the bark on the stag was ugly). I’m loving how it’s aging into a yellowish, ivory color, and it’s silky smooth in my hand.0313ED6C-E4CA-49E5-B128-7EBD9BA6F15B.jpeg
It’s a late production Camillus, without a midel number, but the blades are krinked perfectly, with no rub, and smooth walk ‘n talk.C843A168-33B5-412D-94E7-D64205428A1B.jpeg3808E9E0-43A2-4EB2-8DB6-E8D10E814F92.jpeg

You all are showing some sweet knives today!
