For as small as the mini-copperlock is, in use it feels like a bigger knife.

I'm not going to rush getting the edge straight again on the little Camillus - so after sharpening number one parts of it are very sharp and parts aren't. Even time I resharpen it, it will get closer to a straight edge again. Maybe three or four or so more sharpenings will do it, but I don't want to push it and lose too much blade at once to correct it.

Just love those Schrades David. Nice pairing.
Thank you Bob! 🤠
I have and am very fond of both of those!
I got my Kabar with a last moment bid while walking into a Nebraska truckstop on I80 in the middle of a blizzard trying to find stuff to get the Uhaul trailer lights to work.
The things I remember…

I have not seen any other Kabars like that before yours today! I did an internet search on it and found that besides Loom Fixer,, kabar also callef it a Boston Whaler. It’s an absolutely great knife, with perfect snap.
Thank you Jeff. That's quite a good story on how you scored your Loom Fixer. The Ka Bar Loom Fixer is a hard one to find. But worth it once you get one in hand.🤠

Dictionary: traditional...see Jeff's knives.
Well done with the bone good sir.
Thanks, Bob, but I’m thinking I should slim the elk a bit more where it meets the bolsters…
I thought my knives appear under “Users” in the Funk And Wagnell.🤔

I might look for one of those Camillus. I remember when they were dirt cheap on the ‘bay, but I was trawling for TK-29s at the time. Of course they werecheap and plentiful then, too.

Awesome. Maybe I’ll ask for a Harvest Right for next Christmas.
Tell me about vegetables ~ how welll does it work on them?
My personal experience with vegetables is limited. I freeze dried some of the frozen bags of mixed vegetables which worked out fine. I need to experiment more with them and see what I like.. Biggest problem is we don't produce enough excess from the garden to try it out much. I have done several batches of tomatoes and they are delicious. I eat them like chips, and they also work really well on sandwiches if you want tomato flavor but don't want soggy bread. I also did a batch of some leftover shrimp and vegetable stir fry for a friend last year, and he claimed it all turned out good, but I never tried it. PM me if there is something specific you want to try. I would be glad to try out some new stuff and can send you a sample if you are interested.

I've had an opinel #8 drop point gardener for a while and it's just big enough where it never leaves the drawer. Reading the opinel thread got me to try again and this #7 in carbon steel showed up Friday along with the scoring knife for the Mrs. (chestnut and garlic knife I guess it used to be called).

I sanded the sides flat, gave it a bit of an easy open slot, and added a lanyard hole. Hit it with the homebrew paste wax on the outside and mineral oil on the inside.

I'm going to try and give it 30 days. So far it is day 3. Off the top of my head, It has prepped dinner, opened a few packages, sliced some leather, made some wood shims and stripped wire ends. It's not even dirty yet! I did have to run it across some leather last night to bring the edge back up.

So far so good. Great little knife. It's not much smaller than the #8 gardener but the difference made it just right. You can see the difference in this phot, especially the collars.

Aw, that’s a very kind offer, Ellis, but I’m trustng your opinions.

If the dehydrater works well on veggies, I may have to save up for one. I can and freeze enough of certain vegetables to last until the next harvest and freeze drying might help out.

As usual, I'm carrying 2 canoes this week (among several other knives). It's not customary for both canoes to be Rough Riders, though.

I have three in my back yard ....... mine have already bloomed ..... blooms are now gone and all leafed out. One of my favorite times of the year when they bloom. 😍 🌸🍃🌳
Nice job on the Camillus ..... I like the covers !😊

Those photos are a case of gorgeous Mr.P.
My vote is for the shine.

Thank you Mr. R !
Seems like nearly every time I put a patina on a Case, I eventually take it off.
Might be because I was used to seeing them all nice and shiny in those old display cases I frequented when I was a youngster.
Thanks for the vote ! You won ! 😊🤣
