Thanks, yes it was. In my opinion, it had particular ugly stag with no redeeming features at all. So I sanded it a little and then jigged it. The other side turned out better because there was more material to work with, but the color isn’t as interesting.

That's an amazing jigging job, Todd!

What tool(s) did you use, and how did you plan the pattern of jigging?
Stag lockback, very compact 3 3/8" but nice thick slabs for grip.
Impressive knife, Will!

The curved frame, barlow-like bolster, drop point blade, and dark stag are all very attractive features.
Back to a shine on my 1970 Case SAB Hunter .............. I decided to take the patina off. A 1971 stag stockman will ride in the watch pocket.

Very beautiful Green

Well, perhaps dowdy is too harsh..

but I find it less of a temptation than the tractor
I like all of these GEC #38s; their "toothpickiness" appeals to me!

A cloudy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Looks like rain tomorrow and that probably means Ed will be getting some snow up north. Keeping me company today is the usual lamb and a ham. Bring on the Lakers!

Splendid pair of light-colored knives!

I've always thought that Curry guy is an amazing player, but I think I've underestimated him!
Camillus Stockman and Klein lockback in a sheath.

I took this one apart, and handled it with smooth stag (the bark on the stag was ugly). I’m loving how it’s aging into a yellowish, ivory color, and it’s silky smooth in my hand.

It’s a late production Camillus, without a midel number, but the blades are krinked perfectly, with no rub, and smooth walk ‘n talk.

Superb stockman, Jeff, and the stag rehandle looks fantastic!

I've had an opinel #8 drop point gardener for a while and it's just big enough where it never leaves the drawer. Reading the opinel thread got me to try again and this #7 in carbon steel showed up Friday along with the scoring knife for the Mrs. (chestnut and garlic knife I guess it used to be called).

I sanded the sides flat, gave it a bit of an easy open slot, and added a lanyard hole. Hit it with the homebrew paste wax on the outside and mineral oil on the inside.
I'm going to try and give it 30 days. So far it is day 3. Off the top of my head, It has prepped dinner, opened a few packages, sliced some leather, made some wood shims and stripped wire ends. It's not even dirty yet! I did have to run it across some leather last night to bring the edge back up.
So far so good. Great little knife. It's not much smaller than the #8 gardener but the difference made it just right. You can see the difference in this phot, especially the collars.

Have a good week, everyone!
Congrats on the new Opinel, and super job of "personalizing" it!

I have experience with only the #6, #7, and #8 Opinels, and of that trio, the #7 is my favorite size.
Went out this mornin to be greeted by one of my Redbuds doing it’s early spring thing.
Redbud is a very nice ornamental.

Like that photo, Jeff.

When we moved into our house 38 years ago, the yard on the north side of the house along the alley was basically a scraggly grass slope with a trashy mulberry tree. Over the years, we've "landscaped" if quite a bit: turned most of it into a "butterfly garden", built a stone wall along the alley, installed stone steps leading from alley up to the sidewalk next to the house. We replaced the mulberry with a redbud that we liked a lot, but an ice storm killed it. We currently have a Juneberry in that spot, and that's a nice tree, too; just finished blossoming.

Today was the sowbellies turn.
IMHO, that's a sublime knife, FBC!!

I've always liked the looks of that model!

I finally bought one (Chinese model with a new shield design) a couple of months ago. I haven't used it very much so far (except for food prep), but I'm pleased with it. My only complaint is the sharp edges on the covers; I need to round those off.
Absolutely. It's the Kentucky bicentennial from 1976

That stag SBJr is super!

I like your photos on that "stump" whose colors match the color on the knife handles.
....another Robeson

...I just admire the craftsmanship.
I hope all have a good day.
