What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That's an amazing jigging job, Todd! 😲:thumbsup:
What tool(s) did you use, and how did you plan the pattern of jigging?
Thanks Gary. I just used a Dremel with a cone shaped grinder bit. Holding it at different angles created different patterns. I was trying to recreate some of the jigging you sometimes see vintage knives.
I've always liked the looks of that model!:cool::thumbsup:
I finally bought one (Chinese model with a new shield design) a couple of months ago. I haven't used it very much so far (except for food prep), but I'm pleased with it. My only complaint is the sharp edges on the covers; I need to round those off.

Nice Old Timer. 😎👍

Hi. I hope it's okay if I ask a technical question. How do you insert images into your posts? I think your way of integrating images looks better than mine.
I do it on my iPhone, not sure if it’s different on another phone or computer. On Imgur, I hold my finger down on the picture I want until some options pop up. I select “copy post link”. Then I come back to blade forums, Click the little picture icon above the post (the square with the mountain in it), then I click the little chain icon that pops up, then I hold my finger down in the text box until the “paste” option comes up and I paste in the link from Imgur, then hit insert. Hope that helps.

Thats a better answer than what I was hoping for. Thanks man

50 TG. One steak and it has "patina" but other than that it is on par with a typical case in fit and finish, good centering, very tiny gaps on the back. Not GEC although the sharpness of the factory blade is the same. Weak pull, no half stop which I'm good with and solid lock that you expect from a lockback. Good to see another few models made in USA.

Cheers,

Got it just to try it but like it more than I expected to. The example I got is solid, no gaps, sharp, nice W&T and F&F. No blade or frame interference, no blade rap, good nail nick positioning and none of the blades stand too proud so feels good in use, especially for it's size. Nice half-stop on the main clip blade, none on the others - I'm fine with that. I'd like it more for a little less scratch but not a deal breaker at it's retail price.

It's dwarfed by the Granddaddy Barlow but makes a nice complement to larger knives - I've also carried it alongside GEC's recent English Jack and felt like it played it's role well.

I think I heard speculation that it's manufactured by Bear & Son - if that's the case, it's a cut above the Remington Trail Guide Barlow I received from them. no noticeable recurve on any of the blades, jigging pattern could be somewhat more refined but again, it works. No cracks or noticeable chipping anywhere on the covers, pins are all polished flush.

One of the best parts was that I didn't have to fight to get one. Just added to cart and checked out leisurely. imagine that - just buying a knife like a regular person. it was pleasant. I don't care about rarity, I just don't believe I'm that special -- but I do value the ability to get a quality tool at a decent price with zero aggravation.

Your mileage may vary.
Nice write up🤙
When I was hunting for a Schrade 294 Serpentine Jack ~ the one with the long Sabre Clip and pen ~ I accidentally bought a non-USA made model. The seller’s photos somehow evaded the clues, but on close inspection, I saw the faint blade etch saying “70th Anniversary” meaning it was made after Schrade USA had gone belly up ~ End Of Days. That and the lack of USA on the tang stamp means it was made in China.
I was mad at myself, and have never used it. 🤡 But I should. It’s really well made, with jigged bone, although the shield is missing.
Eureka on this gloomy day today.

Maybe those gloomy clouds will open up, and help keep that pasture green.
Do you guys put up any hay, or is it all for grazing?

Bart answered you, but here’s my way:
~Take the photo with my Iphone
~Edit it in the phone’s photo edit function
~ The Forum has a 1MB limit, so it has to be re-sized. I use an app called Resize Image. It’s real easy ~ tap the left button which brings up your photos. Tap on the one you want, hit the next button over, select 1MB, and “resize”, then hit the fourth button from the left to save the resized pic in your photo album. Done. When you open up your photo album, delete the original that’s too big for the Forum.
Then, on the message screen here, select the link on the bottom left ~ the paper clip Attach files…select photo album, tap on the photo(s) you want, and hit “Add”.
The will load in the message box. Press Insert, then Full Image, and yer done.3CCE37EB-1AD8-4AEA-BDB8-0BDD0DCF1337.jpeg
Morning everyone...rain has finally past! Golf and gardening.View attachment 2175387
Golfing/betting for knife money!

What’s in your garden, Bob? Food, flowers, or both?
I believe that the Cyclops Works stamp was used on earlier stainless releases, the ones with Squirells & Acorns blade etch? Later on it was omitted and the Squirrels were displaced by a more pedestrian shield, boring. However, it would have been cool if the Cyclops stamp was a picture of the mythical Greek ogre  Possibly the original Cyclops Works had it.

I would love to see that as a tang stamp. But I suspect the tooling would be rather expensive.

Impressive knife, Will!:thumbsup::cool: The curved frame, barlow-like bolster, drop point blade, and dark stag are all very attractive features.

Couple of charismatic Cases, Rob!:cool::thumbsup:

I like all of these GEC #38s; their "toothpickiness" appeals to me!:cool::thumbsup:

Splendid pair of light-colored knives!:cool::cool:
I've always thought that Curry guy is an amazing player, but I think I've underestimated him!

Superb stockman, Jeff, and the stag rehandle looks fantastic!:thumbsup::cool:

Congrats on the new Opinel, and super job of "personalizing" it!:thumbsup::cool: I have experience with only the #6, #7, and #8 Opinels, and of that trio, the #7 is my favorite size.

Like that photo, Jeff. :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
When we moved into our house 38 years ago, the yard on the north side of the house along the alley was basically a scraggly grass slope with a trashy mulberry tree. Over the years, we've "landscaped" if quite a bit: turned most of it into a "butterfly garden", built a stone wall along the alley, installed stone steps leading from alley up to the sidewalk next to the house. We replaced the mulberry with a redbud that we liked a lot, but an ice storm killed it. We currently have a Juneberry in that spot, and that's a nice tree, too; just finished blossoming.

IMHO, that's a sublime knife, FBC!! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

That stag SBJr is super!:cool::cool: I like your photos on that "stump" whose colors match the color on the knife handles.

Desirable duo, Bob; I've been enjoying your run of Robesons!:thumbsup::cool:

Appealing colors on your sawcut Osage Orange TC, Rob!:thumbsup::cool:

Thank you kindly, sir!
It sounds like you’ve really done some serious landscaping. In spite of it being quitw exhausting, it’s hard to beat the looks of stonework.

I’ve been so infatuated with everyone’s fluted bolster lambs, I forgot I had a fluted bolster knife!

Yes, seeing the other folks knives can inspire me to pull out a neglected knife.
