I'm a lazy gardener Rachel!I'd like to get some blackberries growing. An herb garden sounds nice, too. Most people around here grow tomatoes and peppers, but I don't seem to have luck with them. I went all-in on the eggplants because those and green beans seem to be the only thing I do manage to grow, and I got tired of green beans last year.
Thanks, Jack.
First harvest! I picked the little baby ones growing low to the ground, before 'possums and rats get to 'em. I'm hoping that makes the plants put out more blossoms. Plus a volunteer onion from the compost bin.

Excellent research BarrettI had googled that before asking, but it was late and I didn’t put in too much effort. After a little further digging, it looks like you’re right.

Thank you very much Harry, that's very kind of youA lot of very nice sharp edged cutting devices in your photos my friend . Sorry to hear about your knee but glad you had a staff with you . I have an unknown number of canes and or walking sticks placed throughout our house , garage , and cars just for those times . Don't need them as much anymore though . Take care my friend .

Nice!
I know the feeling GaryThanks, Jack.Sometimes my trip to Spain seems only yesterday, and other times (or aspects of the trip) seem long ago and very much like only a dream!
Glad I have some souvenir knives to remind me it really happened!

Yeah, my memories of growing up are mostly fond ones. I wasn't cut out to be a farmer, but I liked growing up there.![]()
Thanks, Jack.Until I pulled out the Zorro Barlow this week, I'd forgotten that it had a "game of skill" on the handle!

That's interesting, since I've noticed it's gotten harder to find corn that isn't overly sweet these days. I don't hate it, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood for candy corn, and find myself putting on too much salt just to counteract the sweetness. Anyway, I'll definitely try your de-kerneling method. These pictures are for Rachel and Jer,r8shell , and

Thawed a couple of ears out of the freezer from last year’s garden.
Mrs Fleschwund won’t eat it. She’s been spoiled by the fancy dancy new super sweet hybrids, and I just grew the old heirloom Golden Bantam.![]()
I'm a lazy gardener compared to some. (and nothing like farmer Jeff,I'm a lazy gardener Rachel!I get great results from the blackberries for very little effort, and also get all the apples I want from my neighbour, whose two abundant apple trees border my garden, (he's an eccentric old man who only eats tinned fruit and vegetables). I grow basil and chilli peppers on my window-sill, which also takes little effort, and is easy on my bad back
It's great that you got a harvest already, we're only just getting started here!
I love your pic

Thank you Jack. I find blade on the Barkie very useful. I think BRK only did one run of the Bush Seax as number of years ago. I've had this knife for some time. I almost always have a fixed blade or Buck 110 on my belt. But they seldom get in the pics.Interesting blade on your Barkie DavidTerrific trio

LOL!I'm a lazy gardener compared to some. (and nothing like farmer Jeff,Amir Fleschwund ) A lot of gardeners put in raised beds and amended soil, etc. If I waited until I had that set up, I'd never get around to it. I just stick stuff in the ground and water it when I remember. Either something grows or it doesn't!
Happy Holiday Monday, my fellow Americans, and everyone else on the porch. I'm carrying my Stockyard Whittler today:

Years ago, I did some work for Don Gaston
Nice knife, the plates look great with this light. What kind of wood is it?
It’s certainly been a fun series to watch.
