What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Staying inside, the air quality is BAD. Time to retube Amp and enjoy some LPsView attachment 2211486
The new Boker looks good, Bob.
Talk about a break in the matrix ~ a cattleman looking at his pasture, carrying an URBAN knife! 🫣
There is some irony there. I’m actually an urban cowboy, I live in town and commute to the cattle.
Totin my Schrade 294, which for me is about perfect, along with the Schrade Walden Linesman. Posed on a garlic plant.View attachment 2211628
My garlic patch is about 12’X15’. View attachment 2211629If anything in my garden is marketable, it’s probably going to be garlic. I have been selecting the largest bulbs for re-planting each fall, and it’s paying off. The plants are just starting to form scapes, which you can see here.View attachment 2211635 That’s where the plant would flower and produce seeds. We cut those off (and eat them), so the plant puts all it’s energy into growing a larger bulb.
Potatoes and beets looking good. On the left is a row of turnips just starting to poke up, and left of thet, two rows of bush yellow wax beans which should pop up soon.View attachment 2211630
Walking out front, I took a photo of these two little Redbuds, which always make my think of my son. View attachment 2211632At my parent’s church, the church I grew up in, and we were married in 42 years ago, they built a Memorial Garden in which we put some of his ashes. His brother chose the wording and scripture on his stones, Isaiah 43:1 ~ “Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine”
There’s an old Redbud by the Memorial Garden ftom which these tiny seedlings had spread. They were only six inches tall when I dug them out and saved them from the weed puller people.
So now, I think of him when I look at these nice little trees. View attachment 2211634

Have a fine day, my friends.
The garden is even more impressive than I imagined, Jeff. Great story about the redbud, too.
Really in need of some cheer today, grabbed a favorite carry pair.

@Amir Fleschwund Glad you're feeling a bit better. Dig that Walden linesman, a step up from the loose bakelite scales on my TL29. Jealous of your garlic especially, we eat tons of organic garlic and it's really expensive here.
@Modoc ED hope the wife's sister in law bounces back fast. You really deserve a break! Hope the Wagon Wheel gives you the energy you need, you do a lot for an 80 year old - hope I can do as well someday.
I always love seeing that Davison, FC. I hope everything is alright.
Long day of yard work…time to kick back.

Super find ! I had a 26 in Primitive Bone (Spear) some years ago but traded it. The pull was outlandishly stiff for a small blade but she had the looks 😍

I think they should do a re-run but maybe as a single-blade this time?

Thanks, Will

Lamb on the trail with me today.

Carving knife maker Gil Drake passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. Noone ever received one of Gil's knives and claimed it wasn't sharp I can assure you of that. I am fortunate to own and use several of Gil's knives. They are wonderful and rival any brand on the market. His son David has taken over operations of the business.

RIP Knife Maker.
