Happy Friday. Hanging with a Sheepsfoot Jack Cap Lifter…never mind the bollock. I thought the pearl handles classed up the chicken bone, keyhole, chess piece whatever you want to call it shield. I am calling the shield the Bezos Rocket Shield. Double cam landing apparatus apparently. Maybe not.

A classy carry sir, I really dig it! I always called that one the Balzac shield 😁

I had never seen in reality a #26. I love this pattern, another which in not produced for a looooooonnng time 🥺

I agree, it’s a great little pattern!
They also made a variant called the “Little Carver” … same Sleeveboard frame, but with a Wharncliffe main and a Coping secondary … a great little knife, which I, of course, no longer own … 🙄
Thanks for sharing!
😉

Thanks Jeff
I sort of guessed that was the case, but never looked it up View attachment 2211728 When I bought the place, there was another persimmon in the back yard, but it must have been a male also, because neither one produced fruit. Or maybe it was just sick, because it died within 4 or 5 years. Cottonwoods are the same way. There were two in the front yard and the male didn't produce cotton, but the female would turn the yard white.

I have an EL34 based stereo amp. NOS were mucho dinero. I've had good luck with Russian tubes vs Chinese, but wonder what supply is like given the current state of affairs. Its been a while since I bought a set.
Yeah, when we lived in the Ozarks, I could always find persimmons when they were in a grove, kind of close to each other.

Case 2318 punch...just bought and got an excellent example and very happy about it...cheers
Wow, that’s a winner, Mike. Veryuseful set ifblades.
All plans fell apart yesterday when we got word that Cindy's sister-in-law was rushed to the hospital. She lives just up the road from us. So, we're doing the Wagon Wheel Cafe and grocery shopping routine today and adding a visit to the hospital in the rotation somewhere. I'll be carrying the dynamic duo today - Bunny #525 and Buck 055 - the Buck in it's sheath on my belt.

Hope it turns out ok, Ed!
Really in need of some cheer today, grabbed a favorite carry pair.

Hopefully it helps.
Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund Glad you're feeling a bit better. Dig that Walden linesman, a step up from the loose bakelite scales on my TL29. Jealous of your garlic especially, we eat tons of organic garlic and it's really expensive here.
It is. There’s a farm nearby and he’s got a good acre in knee high garlic. Obviously growing for market, and probably quite valuable acre for acre.

Hey ~ just find a little spot a foot or two square, strip the grass, loosen the soil, dig in some compost or manure, and when late summer rolls around, Sept/Oct, break up a couple of your favorite organic bulbs. Plant the individual cloves pointy end up about six inches deep, and about six inches apart. We plant them then so they get a little growth and root feeding in before winter. Then, you’ll be amazed come spring.
Yes, it’s Paul and … I do have a signature.
But to be fair, my signature says
“they call me Ed G … because I am”
in hopes of tipping people off that Ed G was intended to be the phonetic spelling of “edgy”.
But now they just called me Ed.
🙄
… or Frank
🤣🤣
Well, what makes it worse is remembering that we’ve already had this discussion.🥴

I’m not yet at the point of meeting someone new in the bathrom mirror yet, but I have been known to re-tell lame jokes.

There is some irony there. I’m actually an urban cowboy, I live in town and commute to the cattle.

The garden is even more impressive than I imagined, Jeff. Great story about the redbud, too.
Appreciate your compliments, Bart.

So you’re an RC? Reverse Commuter…
Speaking of being an Urban Cowboy, I found a clip of you from one night at Gilleys!

I also felt the pull of a cheerful yellow Delrin Stockman, Jer.
Carving knife maker Gil Drake passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. Noone ever received one of Gil's knives and claimed it wasn't sharp I can assure you of that. I am fortunate to own and use several of Gil's knives. They are wonderful and rival any brand on the market. His son David has taken over operations of the business.

RIP Knife Maker.

Those are beautiful ~ art used to create art.
I’m curious if you ever need a blade with a rounded tip, like a spey, in carving?
Just got this 125OT in the mail today, it needs a good cleaning at some light taps on the bolster since there is a little side-to-side wiggle, but nothing that can’t be fixed. This is a big one!

Yer gonna like it! I love mine, which I bought on the Forum Exchange. It was very tight and gritty when I got it, and oiling didn’t help, so I packed the joint with lapping compound, and worked it several hundred times. After a thourough scrub out, flush, and oiling, it’s silky smooth.Did you get a belt sheath with it?

Toting this new 72, and couldn't be more pleased with myself for it!

I expect we’ll see a bunch of those soon. Glad you like it!

Totin an old friend today, a sunny Schrade 881Y, which a kind Forum Friend gave me in 2017.
I wanted to show you this young pole bean climbing the baling twine, and this monarch butterfly landed at my feet.129AABB3-6969-4068-A733-2D157D00E4CF.jpegF18BE0AF-90E5-4AC2-B9B7-A1C930B2F351.jpeg770A4FC6-4F39-4A7E-A0CA-1DB4B1DDD036.jpeg
My tomatoes are still small, but after being put out last week, are starting to fill out. Time to be thinking about the trellising…

Yeah I got a big brown leather belt sheath in fine condition also. Washed the knife out in mild soap water and dried it off, it was pretty dirty inside. When my daughter sleeps, it’s round two with ballistol, Flitz, fine sandpaper and toothpicks. What better way to spend a Friday evening 😄
