What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Handsome pairing Steve :)
It’s a pretty nice cup. For $10 more I coulda had a 124, but I’ll get a lot more use out of the cup. I’ll be happy to talk your ear off about the fixed blade, but I’m gonna need the details on yours, too. Beautiful bone on the Schatt. 👌

This is the String Bean from Deep Cuts Cutlery. I’ve been a big fan of Kyle’s work for a couple three years. He runs them hard and grinds them thin. This one is on the more extreme side. View attachment 2220229
K390 at 66 HRC, definitely sub .010” behind the edge. Kyle uses mostly micarta and some terotuf, I go for this butterscotch paper micarta every chance I get. Darkens with a lovely patina. Copper flared tubes on this one.View attachment 2220235

I kick myself for not scooping up one a those elderberry jigged 92s. Great pair.
That looks really useful, great lines
Thank you very much for the kind words Jack . I like to occasionally open their drawer and just handle them and rarely put one in a slip and carry it . This is for your viewing pleasure .

Wow! Thanks Harry, what a treat  I'm just going to sit here for a while, and drool! :D :)

I hope your wife's check-up went OK, my friend :)
I grabbed these two redbone jacks today. :)
Just gorgeous JJ  :)

Double your pleasure, double your fun, Jack! ;):cool:
Thanks Gary, dropped your post for some reason  :)
That IS a nice motto, and Jack and I must be sharing a brain, since the first thing I did when I read Rachel's comment was go to a Latin-English translator to generate a Latin version. As Jack noted, since "ego" in Latin usually translates to "I" in English, I soon modified the "motto" to "Truth over Self", but I was still running into problems. When I translate an English phrase to Latin (or any other "foreign language"), I usually "check" by taking the Latin translation and changing that back to English, and often don't get back to the English phrase I started with. The best I could manage was "Verum supra Se" which "back-translates" to "The Truth above the Self".
I can only apologise for all the cobwebs and clutter in thereGary! :D But you've pretty much replicated my own modus operandi! :D Verum supra Se sounds cool  Probably wouldn't be popular with politicians though! ;)

You're not wrong about the fairness flaw, Gary. I guess that's why we have "Old Friends Friday" to look in the back of the knife box and see an old favorite that hasn't had enough recent pocket time.

This Boker Barlow was the first knife that I reshaped the blades to sit properly in the well, and I was so proud of my amateur modder skills, I carried it often. Recent discussions brought it to mind.
A couple years back (in the Before Times, so at least 3 years) Jack Black Jack Black sent me a bagpipe ebony Lambsfoot Big'un, and it's dominated the role of Lambsfoot in my pocket rotation ever since. But recently I've started to miss my old favorite: the Wee Staggy Lamb.

I think they'll pair well, and may be my totin' pair through the long weekend:

It's nice to see that one again Rachel, I'm not sure there were even a handful of those :) The wee Lambs are so different in hand to the Big 'Uns I think, but I like all the Lambsfoot patterns :)

Nice choice!
… and you got that right! my first GEC was a 54 improved muskrat in antique green bone (from Greg at TSA Knives I believe) … musta looked at that and thought about it for a week before I pulled the trigger … those days are long gone.
🫤
Things have changed. My first GEC was a 54 Big Jack that I bought used on the ‘bay for about $60. I remember it being enough $ that I felt a little guilty about it. Later, I bought my orange Bull Buster from KSF. He had plenty at a good price.
Other than the three GEC Forum Knives I am fortunate enough to have, I have been given two GECs from kind forum members who know how to beat out the flippers, speculators, and collectors.

That’s a fine fence post, Mike. But can I just Hail The Schrade? It’s a dandy that should bring you luck at the card table.

What is the Before Times? Do I need another mug of coffee?

Sweet knives, mi amiga!

Really nice pair, Gary. 🤙
Thanks, Jeff! I've had that little Nealy for years. Bud called it his "Little David" model. I bought it because my baby brother's name is David. Which was supposed to be my name....but that's another story.
The Livri is one of the nicest slip-joint releases I've seen in quite awhile. Made in Italy and M390. Just a great little knife.

Happy Friday. I am enjoying a cup of coffee again this morning while sitting outside along with the cat. The K’roo here will be in my pocket today. The K’roo and I are meeting some friends for lunch today. I get to drive from Santa Cruz over Highway 17 to the Santa Clara Valley. Highway 17 is an infamous road that winds through the mountains. A lot of accidents on that highway. It’s four lanes with a concrete divider down the middle. I remember before the dividers were installed the inner lanes were called suicide lanes. Lots of head on accidents back then.
What I liked was there used to be signs warning to beware of “falling rocks”. As a child I was always told Falling Rocks was a Native American ghost that would get me if I wasn’t quiet in the back seat. I was probably wearing my Davey Crockett raccoon hat. I also remember no seat belts and my folks smoking up a storm with the windows rolled up.

Ah, the Before Times......when we went to fondue parties and shared buffets with strangers...blissfully sneezing into each other's faces...

As I get older, it's sometimes difficult to remember exactly how long ago an event was. The Covid Pandemic is somewhat of a time marker for me: "When was their kid's graduation? I remember going to the ceremony and no one was wearing a kn95 mask, so at least three years..."

It's all sort of messed up time (as well as being a messed-up time)! It doesn't seem like 2 minutes since you first posted that pic Rachel :)

I bumped into an old neighbour in town, with their young kids, who told me, "Oh, we all had covid last week, so I decided to bring the kids into town today." I was chatting to her husband just yesterday

Nice pair Bob !
Thanks Steve.

I think we’re faiely close in age. When we were kids, David was the #1 boys name. There seemed to be at leadt two in class all the time. Gary is a good name. Manly.

But we could call you Dave if you’d like…

Ah yes. That makes perfect sense after more coffee.
Yeah, it’s hard to not mark time that way. Our medical center, being a gigantic and thoroughly moronic buerocratic university hospital system finally dropped their mask requirement, and I finally got a look at a couple of attrative nurse’s faces that I hadn’t been able to see for a couple of years.
