What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Took this picture this morning while I was sitting on my deck having my coffee, in jeans and a hoodie! I would’ve started a fire but everything is still pretty wet from the rain Sunday morning. Hope everyone is having a great day. 😎👍View attachment 2216810

What an ancient classic, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I also enjoyed the history of the company you posted later with the connection to Landers, Frary, and Clark.

The patina on your Tribal Lock looks good, Mike! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Fantastic! You've inspired my Random Tuesday carry:

Terrific blade trio today, Todd! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

No Old Cutler here, GT. IIRC they were made by Colonial? 🤔
I think Colonial is right, Mike; I don't have one either. :rolleyes:

Dogs like to pee in the same spots!
Maybe you could deviate by using subtle derivations of your routine and get away with it!

The Stones? I won’t … subjugate you with some of the rock lyrics I got wrong, and sang wrong in my head for years.
“Subjugate” is a synonym for Under My Thumb. Get it? 🥴
Like dogs, I like to pee in the same spot, at least when I'm in my house. 🤓
I like the "subjugate"! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Next rendezvous pickup on the carry list - this stunning cattle knife in ebony. No stops, just buttery smooth perfectly fit blades.

Lower pics taken at the the oil creek just north Hydetown near the picnic area.

I don't have a rotation chart like yours, so I don't have to worry about it.
Not having to worry is a blessed state! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Red and Yellow! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
(Black and White,
They are precious in His sight.)

It's been a minute since I carried this sharp looking knife. Thanks again, @Modoc ED !! Also, apologies to Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund that my guitar only has four strings...;)

Were you able to participate in any market dancing, Jack? 🤓
Wonderful wood duo for you! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

I'm inspired to carry my Voos today. It's another knife that required a little reshaping of blades.

I think my knife toting theme this week is to read this thread while drinking my first coffee, see a post with a cool knife and remembering "Hey, I have one of those! I'll carry it today!" 😃
Vibrant vintage Voos, Rachel! :cool::thumbsup::cool:
Your knife selection procedure sounds a lot simpler than my rotation schedule, but it doesn't seem very "fair" to all your knives! o_O😁

"Truth over Ego" makes a great motto. 👍
...
...
I bet it sounds good in Latin (though, of course, 'ego' is a little different, so perhaps not!) :D Nice Voos Rachel :thumbsup:
That IS a nice motto, and Jack and I must be sharing a brain, since the first thing I did when I read Rachel's comment was go to a Latin-English translator to generate a Latin version. As Jack noted, since "ego" in Latin usually translates to "I" in English, I soon modified the "motto" to "Truth over Self", but I was still running into problems. When I translate an English phrase to Latin (or any other "foreign language"), I usually "check" by taking the Latin translation and changing that back to English, and often don't get back to the English phrase I started with. The best I could manage was "Verum supra Se" which "back-translates" to "The Truth above the Self".

Found this one in bad shape at an antique shop.

Minor wear on the big blade but no broken tips. Cleaned her up, it had MASSIVE amounts of pocket lint, to the point the blades did not want to fully open.

Removed some bad engraving on the shield as well.

Nice find, and nice job. You need to show us the blades! What’s the make and model?
I'm in total agreement with what Jeff wrote about your superb knife, marthinus marthinus ! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

The very first GEC I ever purchased, got it from KSF. I went back and forth for days trying to decide between the rust red and the antique yellow, oh how times have changed 🤣
Nice choice!
… and you got that right! my first GEC was a 53 improved muskrat in antique green bone (from Greg at TSA Knives I believe) … musta looked at that and thought about it for a week before I pulled the trigger … those days are long gone.

You're not wrong about the fairness flaw, Gary. I guess that's why we have "Old Friends Friday" to look in the back of the knife box and see an old favorite that hasn't had enough recent pocket time.

This Boker Barlow was the first knife that I reshaped the blades to sit properly in the well, and I was so proud of my amateur modder skills, I carried it often. Recent discussions brought it to mind.
A couple years back (in the Before Times, so at least 3 years) Jack Black Jack Black sent me a bagpipe ebony Lambsfoot Big'un, and it's dominated the role of Lambsfoot in my pocket rotation ever since. But recently I've started to miss my old favorite: the Wee Staggy Lamb.

I think they'll pair well, and may be my totin' pair through the long weekend:
