What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Here’s a Zulu by Jeff Hawkins. I’m finishing up reading Flashman and the Zulus. It concerns the events leading up to the Battle of the Blood River in South Africa. Although this book isn’t part of the original series this author keeps in the spirit of those. It’s an entertaining read and I find it a good way to learn some history. No connection with the knife…just thought I’d mention it. Have a good Monday.

Wow — some beautiful amber stag on that one! 😍

Thank you Bob !

Nice pair Jeremy !

Thanks Jack !
Thanks Steve. Your sodbusters/lamb pairing surely looks to fit the bill as well!
Golden era for sure if that’s what was coming out. Stunning Barlows!

A very nice pair!

Putting it that way, maybe I’ll be nicer to Monday’s…
Thank Jeremy. Your propeller pairing is particularly picturesque.

I don’t think it matters, they’ll still treat you the same way. 🤣🤣🤣 One can hope, though 🤞.

May I ask your impressions of the Rosecrafts fit and finish?
In a word, outstanding. My collection of Rosecrafts is now up to four, as I just added this Loosahatchie Jack and a Clinch River Swayback to my Holston River Surgeon's Knife and Appalachian Jack. If I'm forced to nitpick, the Appalachian Jack has a rough spot on the inside of the spring that you need a flashlight and a magnifying glass to really see but for the price, it's fine and the Surgeon's Knife has a weaker pull than I prefer but it's a smaller knife and still very snappy. They're all gap free, no proud tips, perfect transitions from cover to bolsters, all steel construction, fine grinds, acceptably sharp out of the box, nicely packaged, no slop or play in any direction -- I think you can see where I'm going.

I wish they were made in the USA, but all four of mine are phenomenal and, in my opinion, quite a cut above B&S and RR.

If you are interested in a particular area I didn't cover above, ask away!

Thanks so much for your detailed response. I have been eyeing them but you are the first to display one.👍🏻

You're more than welcome, I always enjoy your posts in the Guardians thread and elsewhere! I've been planning a shot with all my Rosecraft's together. I'll try to remember to tag you!

Been eyeballing their Beaver Creek Barlow pretty hard lately but I'm waiting for regular retailers to get them back in stock. To me, it looks like a winner too!

Is DFC running a factory or are they contracting with someone to make their knives? Those Titusville and Tuna's look good :thumbsup::thumbsup:
My research seems to say they're contracting, but with individual cutlers as opposed to a production factory.

The Tuna Valley pictured above might not be everyone's cup of tea with it's very thick cut stag, but it's just what I wanted and has no issues I've been able to find. I also have a Titusville Cutlery Co. "Ol Mother Hubbard" that has a number of pretty significant issues. I've reached out to the company and haven't heard back yet but am hopeful for some kind of resolution. I'll reserve further comments until I hear back from them and see how they want to handle it.

Thanks kindly.

This one arrived in today's mail and has gone right into the pocket. Wasn't even aware these existed until Charlie's waynorth waynorth post in the Rendezvous thread (thanks, Charlie!). Quality is excellent -- great F&F and W&T. The teardrop handle is extremely comfortable, and suits the lamb nicely. Love the copper bolsters -- definitely a distinct look. Nice to see a few of these being posted today.
