Continuing with knives I've acquired so far in 2023 (taking a break from my usual rotation schedule). Today I'll post 3 Rough Rider stockman knives that Modoc ED Modoc ED generously sent me recently.
First, a smooth tobacco bone sowbelly stockman which is fantastic, since that bone is probably my favorite from RR, and the pattern is probably my second-favorite pattern (after a canoe, but sowbelly stockman is "closing the gap" as time goes by). I've had a knife exactly like this for quite a while, and I appreciate having a back-up. (Actually, I always keep gift knives, so my original will be the back-up that could possibly be used for a gift or a trade.)

Since ED has some interest in urban trash removal procedures, here's a photo of the knife with my city yard waste bin (or at least part of the logo on the bin) in the background:

ED also sent me another RR sowbelly stockman with sawcut brown bone covers. I originally misidentified it as a medium stockman, but once I controlled my enthusiasm over a box of new knives, I recognized it for what it was (which was even better than I thought). Since I spent quite a bit of time early this week using a bowsaw to cut up a fairly massive fallen oak limb, I took pics of the sawcut sowbelly with the saw and gloves I used for my lumberjack gig:

The third stockman ED sent is a RR large (4 3/8") stockman with sawcut bone handle. I used to be reluctant to carry large stockman models because they took up so much pocket space, but now I'll stick them in the tool pocket on the leg of carpenter pants where they carry nicely, and I like having 3 big blades available. Good looking knife!

Thanks again, ED, for the quality stock knives!

I’ve been helping at a summer camp my kids are at this week. Tons of fun. It’s at Clemson University (my glorious alma mater…go Tigers).

Carrying (discretely) my 15. View attachment 2234917

Joseph is living his best life…free food (in his mind) and hotdog eating contests…he said, “this is the best day of my life!” 😂😂😂🌭

You don’t have to twist my arm to be in Tiger Town.

It’s always a good day to be a Tiger!! I’m not an alum, but I have 2 kids that are. A special, special place!!

Great combo Bart, glad you’re getting to relax with the family. 😎👍

Killer Dogleg Jim. 😎👍

Well done Gary, those are beautiful! 😎👍
Thanks, Todd. It was nice to get away for a few days but I’m back home now. I traded 70 degrees and afternoon thunderstorms in the mountains for 100 days in the valley ☹️
Good morning all, I hope Thursday treats you well.
A new Hibbard discovery.

Nice “discovery”, Bob. I want to know where you’re looking (slightly before you look there)😁
Locking Sak. Have to keep Jack on leash due to Coyotes :(

It’s funny you say that. Last week I was out irrigating and had both of my dogs with me. There were two juvenile coyotes in the pasture. They came within about 15 feet of us before my dogs noticed. Then all four of them took off running around the field. When they got kinda far away I whistled and my dogs came back. I don’t really want my dogs to chase other animals, but this seemed more like they were just playing around.

My pleasure Gary. Glad to see you're carrying them and getting some use out of them.
