What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It's like Christmas day for me today! As is usual of late I'm carrying the peanut, but I'm also carrying what may have been my first true traditional knife, my old Opinel No. 8. I traded a Chinese Winchester trapper for it when I was about 10, and carried it for about three years. It survived a number of camping and fishing trips, and whittled many an unrecognizable blob out of otherwise perfectly useful pieces of firewood. Then I cut off a huge chunk of my thumb with it, stuck it in a box, and forgot about it till I dug the box out and found it this morning. Free knife! Handle had swelled, and there was tons of rust on it. Lucky for me, it cleaned up good and sharpened up in just a few passes on the Arkansas stone. Now it's back in the pocket for at least a few more years of use before I lose it again.

Page 1300, dang. Love this thread and all the great knives it contains in its pages. Got to know this one a little today and I am liking it more and more. Spring is loosening up a little and I have the lock down pretty good. Now I just need to retrain from buying a matching one with spear blade ;)

And going in style too. I really admire that conversion.

Thanks, it proved today to be the decimator of unholy elms!!! within 2 weeks they're almost 2/3 inch trunk along my fence line!!!

Now I'm tired, gotta drive to Wichita tomorrow for more medical stuff...

If you ever stop carrying that knife things just won't seem right :D

One more photo of this one. :p I love this knife but can't wait to get something new from my next month trip to Berlin. Should be interesting. I've had this knife for about half year now and has served me very well.

My brand new Buck Canoe. Not costly, but surprisingly good.

How are the edges holding up? My 373 stockman was difficult to sharpen for some reason, but the blades stayed in good shape for a fair amount of time afterward.
