What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Planned on this denim copperhead, but I’m having second thoughts. I was trying to open both blades for its morning photo and saw a slight mishap. I slammed my thumb against one of the blades which will make me a little clumsy for a day or two. Oh well.C5A6F657-E75B-4527-AD14-539E4D3DF325.jpeg

Farmer Jack Friday...I love this knife:)

That makes two of us !

Yes. I concur on that knife and what it represents.
And you’ll not be hearing me complaining about the weather no matter what season it is. It’s all nature’s glory.

Speaking of decent Blade Forums knives, I’m giving this one a fair workout. Strange that I first was disappointed it was not 86 size. Then I compared it to some of my all time favorites, my Voos Jacks, Grandpa’s old Camillus EO Jack, and the WWII Navy Utility Jacks, and whaddaya know? Same size.
Let’s see if wax beans will produce any kind of patina. The pressure canner is hot and waiting.View attachment 2275707
And, the result. Six quarts for the pantry. The pressure canner holds seven quarts, but the bottom broke out of one🫠View attachment 2275715

Just one cycle, as opposed to spending the whole day in the kitchen doing batch after batch. Got those beans trimmed up, into the jars, and in the canner while keeping an eye on the grill, then 25 minutes processing time starting when the jiggler started jiggling. Lots more beans out there for another day.

There will be some all day canning sessions soon, when I make salsa and homemade V8 juice. But the tomatoes are still green, and the peppers are still small.

I love home canned beans !

This will keep my pocket happy for awhile.( bleached kudu). No gardening, no honey do's. Maybe some Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull, Stones Lps.😃 and always someone like Blind Willie McTell.View attachment 2275845View attachment 2275846

It was eat peach I havent listened to it before so I hope its good.

Its a great little record stall run by an older geezer in a outside market.
He charges a lot less than some places,I much prefer having the old releases.
As I walked up he was playing Howling Wolf on his old style lift top record player I asked him to play Killing Floor and we chatted.
He sells some cool Tee shirts as well.
Both are superb albums 👍👍👍
I saw them live at Pine Knob, an outdoor amphitheater outside Flint, Michigan, in 1978 (or maybe '79). Fantastic performance.

You may already know this: Eat a Peach was the last album Duane Allman played on. He died in a motorcycle crash. Urban legend purported that the name of the album was because he hit a peach truck, but that's not true. He lost control avoiding a truck, but it was never reported as a peach truck. Derek Trucks said the name came from something Duane once said about eating a peach for peace everytime he was in Georgia. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Got back from Tennessee last night. The fastest way is through Nashville/Paducah/St. Louis, but the weather channel was indicating possible severe storms and driving rain all the way to Paducah, so I went north to Louisville, KY and picked up I-64 and avoided all bad weather. I was surprised that it was only 25 miles farther going that way. Looks farther on a map. Us engineers are supposed to able to eyeball stuff like that 👁️It took an extra hour since the first 170 miles or so are mostly two lane and goes through a few small towns. U.S. 27 through Somerset Kentucky had more traffic signals than you could shake a stick at. Seriously, your arm would tire out and fall off, before you shook at all of them. I wish I had counted them. I'm guessing it's a gazillion 🤓 I think they were synchronized since I got the first bajillion green, but then traffic interfered and I hit the next umpteen red. Considering I missed all the bad weather and I-64 in Indiana and Illinois has much. much, much less traffic than
I-40/I-24/I-57. It was a decently pleasurable drive, if long (615 miles). 🛣️

Going to pick up my accumulated mail and restart delivery this morning. The 18 was my most oft carried knife over the last two weeks.

As a guitarist, I try to give credit to the guys behind the singer, and Hubert Sumlin was the guy behind Chester Arthur Burnett.

You drove straight through? I can do that. For example, the drive from west Ga. where my girls are, to n. Illinois, is 800 +/-. And the drive from here to my boy in Colorado is 1000 miles. I’ve done both straight through, but damn. I’m getting too old for that. Gimme a Red Roof Inn for $80 with a nice mattress, and clean bathroom.
Part of my problem is that when I’m alone, I use the maps and my phone to find the pretty backroads ~ and there are a lot of them in Ga, Alabama, Tn, and Ky. And yeah, the small towns with the stop and starts.

Anyway, where are all the pictures from Tennessee???
