15 in my pocket today mooching around my gaff not doing to much.

My neighbours probably think I am a nutter,my car roof is almost black from the trees and birds I have to park it under.

So when we had cold torrential rain and the street mini flooding this morning I thought it might have loosened the grime.

I went out with a long car brush, soapy liquid wearing my shorts,Army goretex jacket and scrubbed it clean, just as it went from torrential to full on Niagara falls.

Yes I got very wet, but I dont mind it takes me back to when I was a young soldier in training we where wet as often as dry... 😁

It cleared up later so I cleaned up this old tool I bought in a antique shop a bit more its a screwdriver of sorts, it was hammerd over at the end.

I thought it would make a fine pry bar and hitting stick.

My outdoor bench which is real useful for dirty jobs and hammering things that shouldn't be hammered I made from the remains of the old military racking I fitted in my shed/garage.

An underated Knife right there, very nice
That makes two of us !
Thanks Steve:)
Got back from Tennessee last night. The fastest way is through Nashville/Paducah/St. Louis, but the weather channel was indicating possible severe storms and driving rain all the way to Paducah, so I went north to Louisville, KY and picked up I-64 and avoided all bad weather. I was surprised that it was only 25 miles farther going that way. Looks farther on a map. Us engineers are supposed to able to eyeball stuff like that 👁️It took an extra hour since the first 170 miles or so are mostly two lane and goes through a few small towns. U.S. 27 through Somerset Kentucky had more traffic signals than you could shake a stick at. Seriously, your arm would tire out and fall off, before you shook at all of them. I wish I had counted them. I'm guessing it's a gazillion 🤓 I think they were synchronized since I got the first bajillion green, but then traffic interfered and I hit the next umpteen red. Considering I missed all the bad weather and I-64 in Indiana and Illinois has much. much, much less traffic than
I-40/I-24/I-57. It was a decently pleasurable drive, if long (615 miles). 🛣️

Going to pick up my accumulated mail and restart delivery this morning. The 18 was my most oft carried knife over the last two weeks.

As a guitarist, I try to give credit to the guys behind the singer, and Hubert Sumlin was the guy behind Chester Arthur Burnett.

You drove straight through? I can do that. For example, the drive from west Ga. where my girls are, to n. Illinois, is 800 +/-. And the drive from here to my boy in Colorado is 1000 miles. I’ve done both straight through, but damn. I’m getting too old for that. Gimme a Red Roof Inn for $80 with a nice mattress, and clean bathroom.
Part of my problem is that when I’m alone, I use the maps and my phone to find the pretty backroads ~ and there are a lot if them in Ga, Alabama, Tn, and Ky. And yeah, the small towns with the stop and starts.

Anyway, where are all the pictures from Tennessee???
Yeah I drove straight through. Sometimes in the winter I'll make it a two day trip just so I don't arrive in the dark and discover I have to crawl under the trailer to fix the plumbing (a chronic problem with an old trailer). I could do 700 miles, but would rather not ;)
600 is plenty for me these days. I used to ride it straight through on a bike. That would definitely be a two day trip now

I've made this trip so many times I've gone a bunch of different ways, including taking a ferry across the Ohio. I vastly prefer two lanes and scenic routes, but sometimes I just want to get there.

I was there almost two weeks and the only pics I took were of the mower so I wouldn't have any parts left over 😬

Home today. Got a little sage brush removal project going on and I'm going to carry and use a terribly abused Buck 112 I got a couple weeks ago for trimming after we remove the main branches.

The knife as it arrived. Terrible blade condition. Apparently sharpened with a grinder or a file. Huge nicks in the blade edge at the tip.

The knife as it is now. The nail nicks have been sharpened out and a good edge bevel established. It is very sharp. The tip needs a bit more work but it is much better than when it arrived.

I'm not going to shine it up. I'll leave it as is so it can show off it's scars with pride. Still plenty of work left in the old girl.

Sausage, eggs, and waffles for breakfast.

I think our Fall weather is like your Summer weather! I did go once to California around Independence Day. Stayed in Oceanside near San Diego, and took a day trip to LA (drove around Beverly Hills and saw the La Brea tar pits). Really gorgeous weather for Summer.
Awesome Barlow, by the way.
Thank you! Oceanside is one of my absolute favorite places to visit. It is a very special and beautiful place. I think the San Diego area in general is beautiful and feels a lot safer than LA. The La Brea tar pits are really cool! Summer in the fall sounds fun 😁
Yes. I concur on that knife and what it represents.
And you’ll not be hearing me complaining about the weather no matter what season it is. It’s all nature’s glory.
I absolutely agree. We had a lot of rain this winter and I enjoyed every single day of it!
Peter that is a beautiful knife but the temperature in socal is a bit too high for me. Last time I checked it was a cool 65 degrees at my humble abode. Ah…😀
Thank you! 65 degrees sounds really refreshing right now, Dan. It’s looking like a high of 97 here today 😆 Enjoy your sunny start to your day!

The calendar shows it’s 8/5 today and I just so happened to take out my Rotten 🍌 last night. Currently sitting at a lovely 85 degrees as well. Have a great weekend everyone

There was a guy in CO making elk grips like that for N frames. Forgot his name but he retired. Did you get them from him per chance?
Yes sir. I’ll PM you his name. He still makes some grips, but only sells them one at a time as he makes them. No orders. These are actually Moose, but I have some of his elk too. Fantastic quality grips.

I have a set of his elk sheds for an N frame as well and would like to get another pair if he is still producing.
