Great barlow Todd. The soup bone is the best of the bunch. Good to see you posting again too.
Thanks Bart. I’ve really been enjoying it.
😎👍
We were processing some cattle today. After we preg checked the cows and ear tagged the calves we pushed them over to the neighbors to weigh the calves. They have a corral made out of tires that works well

and a nice old scale they let us use.

Great photos and good looking herd of cattle

Nice pic Jeff !
Thanks, Steve! I always enjoy your well photographed pair of the day🤙
Thanks Amir! A bit similar to your trapper jack except smaller. Still not sure who made it though ...
I’m reasonably sure that Camillus made the High Carbon and Sta-Sharp knives for Sears. Same pattern as my SW, but yours is much older, and a real treasure.
Still goin' through the grinder here, normal for this time of year. Hope to have time for a proper sit on the porch soon, but it may be near winter solstice before this bit o' wicked has rest. Old Barton 100 proof in that cup, if you're into the water of life. Best 15$ I spent this week (no I didn't buy a knife but the week is young).

Well Fred, I think a day off to go fishing would help. 😎
Fine looking pair ~ love the little belt knife.

Have a nice day :)
Nice pair as usual, Yann. The fixed blade is just great.

Camillus short line tang stamp 68 Stockman, and Eagle Jack.FF8185C8-CCC1-4A68-AB0C-9BC1FD556046.jpegB788B54C-8BE8-4B1E-A180-6559CD5C9F6E.jpeg
I bought the Jack some years ago very cheap. The ugly modifications must have scared off competing bidders. Plus, it’s an obscure brand.
From what I could dig up about Eagle, it was a short lived venture of some cutlers from New York Knife Co. Much of their work involved rehabbing factory seconds from NYKC, and possibly other makers. The original tang stamps were ground off and they re-stamped them with EAGLE PA.
I really like this old jack ~ opens easily, and the thin grind takes a super sharp edge. I have a love for big jackknives, especially cigar shaped jacks. This is the same size as my Camillus 23s, and my GEC 54.
Both easy-open notches were done by a previous owner. One makes sense in getting at the front blade, but the other serves no use at all. To top it off, they were cut very crudely, and kind of ruin the looks of the mark side. Oh well, it’s still a good knife for my uses.
I used to think it was ebony, but now am leaning toward cocobolo.

Either will more than cover my needs today. Felt like toting two today

Two? Those are rookie numbers.

Fine pair, my friend.
I got out early this morning and drove out to the bass ponds to puddle around for a little while before coffee with my uncles and grandad. Slid the little beat up boat I leave on the bank in and enjoyed the morning for a little while.
Now, that is a fine way to start your day. 🤙

You're probably right with Camillus. I found an image of an old Utica peanut that's the closest to mine yet though. But I have no idea if they had a contract with Sears yet when the Craftsman line came to be ... 🤔Ain't knife misteries fun? 😄
