Those flint knives are spectacular! I love artifact hunting and luckily live in an area where there are flint deposits reasonably close that have an incredible array of beautiful colors of high quality material.

You’ve got plenty of users I’d love to have, Jeff. We actually just got half a dozen steers back from the butcher but they’re all spoken for. I don’t think I have enough ice packs to ship half a steer anyway.Great post, Fred!
I agree with thinking about maybe a half of a steer in the freezer. But I don’t think Bart would take any of my users in trade.
Really impressive tomato crop, Jeff. Cool that you grow so many different varieties.Same Eagle Jack, and Camillus 68 ~ hard to put these two away.
Okay, apologies in advance. Not trying to divert from the Totin theme, but i have some photos of the garden…
At least you know my knives are not safe queens.
First thing this morning, I took out the big jack, and chopped down the basil which was thriving in the sandy gravel by the front walk. Vik the Designer complained that talk stuff should be in back. It was time anyway, they would have begun to bolt soon. Hung up to dry…

So despite us eating tomatoes every day, they are now ripening en masse, and I cannot keep up. Some, like bushels full of cherry maters are getting shared.View attachment 2305714
It’s time to cook up and can a big batch of salsa.

Not pictured ~ the peaches and mangoes I bought. We like peach and mango salsas.
I’ll end up wth four different recipes down in the pantry.
Have a fine day!
Thanks Bob. Everything went smoothly in Oregon. Too bad I didn’t have time to fish the bass pond in the picture yesterday.Hope the move of your herd went off without any trouble Bart.Always a great background to show off your trapper.
Thanks Jack. One of my favorite knives and my favorite bass pond.Stunning photo Bart![]()

I saw that news story. It might take a while one at a time. I actually have a longhorn steer named Sparky that I halter broke years ago. I’ve never tried to put him I my truck though. I’ll see if I have a picture of him.I think this guy can help on your next cattle drive, Bart
He is actually real. When pulled over, driver told cops, Howdy Doody , was his pet!

Thanks a lot, Jeff!!! It is quite relaxingWell, re-sharpening a knife is fun…
That’s a nice shape on your fixed blade![]()
i came through it, but the knives needed to be honed; Thanks!!!I trust you emerged ever victorious?
The “par” you’re referring to is all perspective. Yes there is a lot of eye candy posted here. But there are a lot of solid, everyday, working class knives, both fancy and just practical that are carried and used everyday. I think the knives you posted are a solid representation of that…Not up to par with most of the knives I see posted here, but I added (and carried) a Case CV Mini Copperlock in mahogany bone today.
My OCD hasn't accepted it yet, but there's some burgundy in there.
Makes for a decent transition piece, I think? TBD.
Such beautiful country. Thanks for sharing Sparky with us Bart.Eureka jack today.
