Harry, that will make an outstanding walking stick/headknocker! What a special piece of wood. If it really is Mulberry, your blades need to be sharp, because it’s quite hard. Please share your progressIt was a rainy day here today and that allowed me to finally get back to my project of making another Walking Stick from a stick that was in an old house that we bought in 1973 . Project was to install a Brass Hames knob which calls for carving the stick for the Hames to fit onto , or into , it . I believe the stick is Mulberry .
Used my old Taylors Eye Witness and the 2019 Forums Knife . Still not finished yet . Due to a curve in the stick , this has been the hardest of the 5 that I have worked on so far .

The stick still has a part of the Vine that grew around it and then the limb started to grow around the vine .

And I am impressed with your woodworking skills, as well. Those inlays are difficult. Why thank you Bob! Did about 9 of those repairs, I'm pretty sure I only want to sit at tables 8 and 9 - don't like looking at every slip of the chisel
That Shapleigh is a very gentlemanly carry sir! And of course you can't go wrong with the Spring Street.
Glad to see that bead getting some air along with the 44They deserved better than the cigar box I had them languishing in, thanks for giving them the life they deserve Jon
Dunno how quotes did that but okay. In my misguided youth I was bothered by non-shiny things. Nowadays I see a patina like that and think "that's respectable".
Thanks JeffThere are so many used USA made hand tools still available, I only buy the "made in Chian" (actual stamp I found on the underside of a toilet lid I was installing once) stuff as a last resort. When Bethlehem Steel died, it was the death knell for so many other domestic industries. The end of an era, truly.
I'm impressed that you know how to build a guitar! Keep us posted on that? Hope you caught some of this delightful rain!

I’m happy for your score, Peter. In spite of your failed resolution!… and I just got done telling myself I should stop buying traditional knives for a bit lol
I had an amazing new NKD. Just when I thought all hope was lost I managed to score this. Just a great example and couldn’t be happier. I love the 86 Barlow’s and my first Texas Yellow Rose is no exception

Nice to see your bi-colored SAK, Jose.
Very nice photo!
Yeah, that extra cup of coffee tends to make my posts kind of wordy!Lamb in the side pocket and a new trial run in the front pocket this morning. A 3" Boker USA in Delrin.

If ive learned anything with knives this year, it's that if you want an all around good knife just grab a Boker USA.
The half congress has become my favorite pattern along with the swayback. The sweet spot seems to be around 3.5" (+/-) Any larger than 3.75" and it defeats the purpose of carrying a front pocket knife along with the larger swayback.
This one is 3" and may be a tad small. The Sabre next to it is just about the perfect size and shape. What a difference .25" makes. ()

Have a good day everyone, sorry for rambling. Had an extra cup of coffee this morning.
I look forward to seeing all of them when they arrive!
Thanks Jeff !!! I agree with you on the hardness . What is not in the photos is my Diamond Stick laying on the work bench too .Harry, that will make an outstanding walking stick/headknocker! What a special piece of wood. If it really is Mulberry, your blades need to be sharp, because it’s quite hard. Please share your progress

Yes, we did get some of that delightful rain! I was picking beans with my waxed boonie hat on to keep my head dry![]()
Both are aging well Paul.Copper ironwood Boker and stag HHB today. The copper is turning out to be beautiful on this little barlow.

Don't cut the black one David!View attachment 2318956
Just the Calfpen today, but it gets the job done fine right by itself.
Thanks a lot Jeff, you did a nice job thereThat’s a fine Barlow, as I’m sure you know. It’s sturdy and robust.
I have the plain ‘ol 206, not one of the Scrimshaw line, and it has a pseudo woodgrain molded into the delrin. If it had been that nice color like yours, I’d have left it alone, but it was a gross, mucous shade of snot green. I just had to fix that with some Rit dye on the kitchen stove. Better, but not perfect. But I love that heavy bolster with the deep scrolling.
To show how substantial the Schrade Barlow is, I shot it with my Case Redbone.
It makes the Case look thin and flimsy by comparison. I wish the Case was built like the Schrade…View attachment 2318971View attachment 2318972

It sure is, thank you my friendYou have a great trio of 86's. The Yellow Rose is a special one!!![]()
Thank you much! Without a doubt the 86 is my favorite pattern, it’s a great size and fits my hand well too. The forum knife is still my GOAT but I’m super happy to be able to add another 86 Barlow to my collection. I’m overall thrilled with this years run of 86’s and have been super lucky to score a few gemsI’m happy for your score, Peter. In spite of your failed resolution!
The 86 is a great size in my hand, as I learned with the Forum knives.
Nice to see your bi-colored SAK, Jose.
