Old Westinghouse paper (no lines) ivory micarta. In time the covers will patina back to the darker color of the sheet it's resting on. Might take a few years as it wears like iron. Enjoy the weekend!

Original Westinghouse micarta is special🤙
It used to be ubiquitous and easy to find. Like Bakelite…but they still make Bakelite. I bought a new sheet of black Bakelite to make Telecaster pickguards. No interest in all of the other gaudy colors, thank you.
Great materials.
Your Bell custom is a perfect Sunday carry ~ slim, but capable. Great coloring.

Nice Voos!
Thanks, Tim!

Mmm… Western and Camillus. From the days of great USA knife companies.
When I was a kid, and wanting a big sheath knife, some wise outdoorsman (Grandpa, my Scoutmaster?) schooled me on the fact that s belt knife about like yours was the most useful and practical size. 🤙

I really like the big pen blades on the Camillus 23s. They get used a lot. Glad you’re happy with your mod.

Never heard of cucamelons. Are they an accidental cross, or intentional? I get a lot of weird squash mutations around my compost piles that Vik uses for Halloween decorations.

Nice working pair, Jon.

My mushroom knowledge is weak. Is that Chicken Of The Woods?

I look forward to your photos. Just don’t pose them on the gunwale like @315/Jim does😲

Great knife!
I don’t know about the cucamelon lineage but they are a bit sour like a gherkin! Super tasty to just munch on while prowling through the garden!

Case 3347 and 6347.
No need to mention 'Cuse, the orange rat II.
I didn't realize those were x347 stockman knives, which are my favorite Case stockman model. :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
For some reason, I thought they were both x318s. :oops:
Are your 47s 2-spring models (older) or 3-spring models (newer)?

Handsome pair Gary :) :thumbsup:

Struggling for time this week! :eek: But I have my Hartshead Barlow, and an Old Friend with me today :) :thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. :)
Couple of fine knives you posted! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
(The raptor in your HHB photo probably should visit a veterinary ophthalmologist. o_O)

This morning, I pulled out an old Memorandum pocket notebook, and looked in it. Besides a couple of favorite Bible verses scrawled in there, and misc. measurements from a bathroom remodel, etc, I found my notes from our Boy Scout canoe trip in one of the farthest northern wilderness areas in the USA, the opposite of where you are, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area on the Minnesota-Canada border.
...
Thankfully, my little journal is fairly detailed ~ listed our route ~ the names of every lake, stream, falls, and portage ~ and made note of every spot where I caught smallmouth bass. (The fishing is out of this world up there), the note about the intense T’storm that hit us in the middle of a long portage, and every spot where we saw moose.
I would love to repeat that experience, this time with my son’s six year old son down in your stomping grounds!

Hi Gary! ✋ Hope you’re well.
There are two tools in the big Schrade Trapper, a heavy duty tweezers, and a scribe. Very handy to have along, more work oriented than the personal care accessories in SAKs.

I think over the shoulder man purse sound better than fanny pack!
I dug out my first Bible, that I received in a ceremony when I was 10, and looking at that beat up, well used book, I decided it needed a nice leather cover. Being thrifty (cheapskate), I went to the Salvation Army store where I buy my clothes to find a woman’s leather purse I could dismantle for the leather. After rejecting dozens of fake leather purses, I found one that might work. But felt weird carrying it up to the register! 🤭

I agree about Barrett’s green Schrade. He found TWO of them at the blade show!

Your little journal for your Boundary Waters trip sounds great, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: I carried a pocket notepad with me when I visited my daughter in Spain and kept a "log" of our activities; it's always in my backpack now, and is a great way to jog my memory of the trip.

Thanks for the info on the extra tools on the Schrade trapper. :)

Based on photos of USA 5OTs I've seen here (including green ones), I finally picked up a Chinese Schrade 5OT last March at Tractor Supply. I really like it (especially after I smoothed off the sharp handle edges with sandpaper, as you suggested.) :thumbsup::cool:

The horn on your JackLam is beautiful !
Thanks, Steve. :) I have to confess that the horn no longer is quite as beautiful, since there have been a couple of "accidents" since that photo was taken that scuffed up the horn.:rolleyes:

I always assume that most people don't see me and the rest of them are the spawn of satan and are actively trying to kill me.

Interesting term you use for drivers of vehicles with at least 4 wheels, Mike. 🤓
Since COVID arrived, I've been walking much more (and driving much less) than I used to, and I've taken to calling many of the drivers on the roads "vehicle supremacists", who I find as despicable as white or black supremacists in their treatment of people not "like" them (i.e., pedestrians, cyclists) as sub-human and not deserving of any rights. :mad:

I like your Uncle Henry 5UH and will probably get one someday, since I like the 5OT medium lockback pattern with drop point blade, and I like Staglon! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I’ve been a little late to the Rough Ryder game as I try to buy knives made in the USA. Picked up these two on a whim and they are definitely nice knives and a ridiculous value. The Copper Ridge Medium Stockman is nice, but the Carbon II Half Hawk really hits my soft spot for single blade folders!!View attachment 2330780
That's what made me a Rough Ryder fan! The half-hawk is one of my favorite RR patterns, although I prefer the 2-blade version, and I have a Copper Ridge pen knife (like your stockman without the sheepsfoot blade) that's the cat's pajamas! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

This Tinker was misfiled in the accumulation for quite sometime and rediscovered yesterday... boy am I happy to have found it! 😍

FVtsIl8.jpg

Probably won't let it out of my sight for awhile. :)
just found this one. Can’t believe I forgot about the knife that was a gift from my parent’s on my 11h. birthday in 1978.View attachment 2331398
Congrats on finding your "prodigal knives", redsparrow redsparrow and holo07 holo07 ! It's at least as good as getting a new knife! :cool::thumbsup:🤓

Think I’ll just hang out for a bit with this stag classic View attachment 2330797
Splendid Case stag stockman, and it's good to see someone else enjoying a Killian's! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I probably drink more Killian's than any other brand of beer.

Going out tonight, so I'll take my dress-up knife. This is as fancy as it gets around here.
H7AjiLjl.jpg
Fantastically fancy, IMHO! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: I have a Wharncliffe mini copperhead with that navy blue bone and red shield that I consider my prettiest knife.

3 vastly different red bone barlows...

If this were a beauty contest, the curved Bulldog Barlow would get my vote! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Captivating stag, José! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Sodbuster Jr in CS.

Dig it.

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it, we can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it. (Can you dig it, baby?)

Sublime sowbelly! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Woah, life could be a dream, Waboom
If I could take you up in paradise up above, Waboom
(Do do do do, Waboom)

What's the black knife? That is REALLY appealing! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Jolly good jigging! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

The TL-29 will do things that you shouldn’t try with your pretty knives!😗
I know what you mean, Jeff, but I think of my Camillus electrician as one of my pretty knives. It's black covers and silver hardware give it a very distinguished look! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Five yards of dirt in the driveway. Half is going on the yard, then a double layer of builders paper, then the rest of the dirt.

One of these will be in my pocket, one on my belt.

The build quality of this knife is just nowhere close to any of my other new (2021 or later) Cases - the other ones have all been excellent. Unfortunately, this dumb Sodbuster is just about perfect in terms of design (and looks, if you don't look too close at all the screwed up details). So I've probably carried more than anything else since I got it. Like I said, it's a love/hate thing. One of these, but made as well as any of my other Cases, would be darn near the Ultimate Pocket Knife.
Quite a project, Tyson! 😲:thumbsup::cool: Am I remembering correctly that grapes will be involved eventually??
Interesting take on your SBJr. For me, I didn't have much use for single-bladed knives until I was gifted a SBJr, and that changed my outlook significantly!

...
View attachment 2331701I definitely remember, Gary.
Cool comic book, Bob! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
From what October does it come? I'm guessing many years ago, given the price!

Sumptuous golden stag, Steve! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Love the Lamb and Cherish the Churchill!

Those 88s are gr8! :thumbsup::cool::cool: Is yours single-bladed??

Thanks, Gary! Unfortunately, I don't have the slightest idea how to backtrack the L.L. Bean patterns. ...
I googled "who made LL Bean's stockman pattern" and found quite a few sites that looked informative, but without having your knife in hand I couldn't really assess whether the photos I saw matched your knife. (Also, lots of claims being made without much evidence IMHO; several mentions of Camillus and of Western, and lots of claims for Ka-bar, but that may not have included stockmans. And there wasn't much date info that I saw in an admittedly-superficial scanning of some sites.)

...
Awesome analogy. I fell in love with it the moment I picked it up on a drop. One of my better knives for sure. It got me into carving
:cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Gary.👍
You would do well to post on Metal Monday because this knife is very beautiful.;)
Thanks, José. :) The same could be said of your blue Alox Pruner!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

...
Gary, I think you've finally cracked this nut for me! All I have to do is arrange any road trips so I can be near a knife outlet, and after about 3 hours in the car I'm betting I can get a "yes" as well 🤣
...
Sounds like a plan, FC! 😁 Of course, you have to be wary of wifely "counterattacks" like a mandatory list of 4 quilt shops spread out over a 300-mile trip!o_O

Way to light a fire, Gary! :rolleyes: After some research, it looks like it's possibly a Schrade due to the "swindled bolsters" (whatever that means?). Or, it could possibly be a Camillus due to the main blade shape... which I find surprising because it's much more nicely finished than any of the vintage Camillus I've owned or seen in the past. I'd be "tickled" if it ends up being a Schrade. I'll keep digging.👍🏻
