Two of my cousins -in their early 60's- and an 84 year old aunt, all had a hip/partial hip replacement in the last year and a half. All are doing well. My aunt, in particular, was running around astonishingly fast.I have heard good things about the procedure too. Except, a person I play with, had an old one pop out. New one seems fine he said.
Good to know...thanks.
I strive to lead a drama free existence. I like my drama on TV![]()

Bob, I had my left hip replaced three years ago. I totally agree with Ed! The only thing I can add is don’t wait too long. I did and though I’m thankfully pain free I’ve had to use a cane to walk. My doc told me the condition of my hip was the worst he’d ever seen and couldn’t promise that my left leg would be as long as the right one. I was in so much pain at that point I didn’t care. Hope that it goes well! You should be home the same day .Planning to carry these later after pre-op CAT scan on hip...more trouble than the operation.View attachment 2335910
I agree 100% with this. My father, before he passed, had a double knee replacement. He did have some post surgery infection, but he also did not keep up with his physical therapy and daily stretches which severely limited his mobility and was possibly a complicating factor in his eventual decline in health. Please make sure to do as your doctor's say so you stay around longer for your friends and family(and your own health and comfort too).BobRufus1949 - The most important thing to do when you have your hip replaced is to do exactly what your doctor and physical therapist tell you to do. I've had a knee replaced and a jaw replaced with the other knee replacement on the horizon. Quite possibly a shoulder replacement too. There are no shortcuts to recovery. It'll be tough at first but the end result will be worth the effort.
I think Moore Maker had their name on some knives at some point? You could get matchy. Glad the cast is off (always when summer is over!) and that advice from doc is good. I don't tricks where I might fall - like skatingAfter a day like yesterday, I definitely found a “soda”. A Sierra Nevada IPA of some sort. Thanks, the pliers are fencing pliers. They’re made for pulling and cutting barbed wire, putting on wire clips, and pounding fence staples into wood posts. Moore Maker makes good ones. My son got his cast off today but didn’t skate. He was hitting baseballs off a tee in the backyard when I got home, then we played catch. I love that his doctor told him he could skate as long as he does tricks that he won’t fall doing. I imagine he’ll skate tomorrow. It’s been lonely skating by myself.
Awesome eureka you’re totin ’ today.![]()
Bob we'll be rooting for you! I feel like you've been lectured enough, so I'm going to advise you to have a drink and take it easy. I appreciate that you co-ordinated the wood on your pocketknives today, you get extra points!Planning to carry these later after pre-op CAT scan on hip...more trouble than the operation.
Dan, thank you for your kind note. I am 74 and held off as long as I could. I did not want to live on drugs. It will be done in two weeks. With the robotics they use, Doc said total of four hours from anesthesia to walking out the door. Four weeks until I can get back on mountain bike.Bob, I had my left hip replaced three years ago. Thank you for your note Ed. I know you went through many battles yourself. I will heed your advice and knowledge.
