I woke up this morning and something drew me back to the big guy :)

Now that I'm home the houndstooth is back in pocket.

You and me both. :)

Seems to be one of those knives that presents itself when you're thinking "I don't know what to carry today." It can take care of pretty much any task with ease. Comfortable to hold, not too bulky, classic good looks.

Seven inches of rain in 2 1/2 hrs last night!!! Flash flooding and lightening like I've never seen in my 51 years. Been a long day of clean up and the Barlow came in very handy today for many tasks

Very nice Nate, great pic

I have been trying to carry the houndstooth for a month but I guess I cheated today :o. I am slowly coming to terms that I just simply can not be a one knife guy. Some days I feel like carrying something different and I am just going to role with the punches. I love the 53 mainly for the same reasons you mentioned but I really appreciate how well thought out this knife's design is. I am hoping they achieve something similar with the new 81 frame, time will tell :)

I'm now beginning to see the attraction to the larger 53/54 sized patterns from GEC thanks to my new Northwoods Forest Jack. It is the bottom knife in the photo below. This one has been in my pocket since I received it a few days ago. I really like the way it feels in hand, and I love the sheath that it came shipped with.

Ill take them two off your hands anytime ;)

This big frame is very comfortable to use. When I was in between stone shops I went back to general remodeling and the 53 was king. So comfortable to use I did not carry a utility knife and still dont. Sure I have one in my bag but ever since I received the 53 I think I have put 2 blades in my razor knife since. The 53 would last a full week between sharpening's no problem. I would use blades against tile to cut foam and rarely did it snag and the main blade stayed razor sharp for anything needing it. I am still debating on the forest jack well that and the T.K. Cuban. Something a little slimmer when I am not remodeling sounds like a great knife and the single spring knives have my attention at the moment.
