What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That Toledo is pretty cool.

Nice pics, Greg.

Wow, great shot of the grain on your Albers, Jack! 🪵

Just don’t leave it on the roof of the wood shed. 😉😁

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — that Lambsfoot is just too cool. 😎

Great pair, Paul. I like the red accent.

Thanks, GT. I don’t think it was particularly cool that morning. I remember Scout and I were out on the back deck there watching the deer without our shoes on (we don’t use that back door from the walkout basement very often, and our shoes were all upstairs by the front door). I’ve kept an eye out back there since then, but haven’t spotted our friend again.

Yes, considering I had expected when we bought this house to have to replace the 20+ year old roof out of pocket at some point, I can’t complain about the roof outcome. I did complain a bit, though, because at one point the roofing contractor seemed confident he could get the whole thing covered by insurance, and that didn’t happen. 🙄😁

Interesting pattern.

I’ve been totin’ this Albers Lambsfoot in Curly Katalox for a few days.

So is that Albers, very nice indeed.

Got a small lot of knives from the auction site today. This Old Timer Barlow 10OT I cleaned up, and other than rust from the years, it looks like it was never used. It looks like it still has its factory edges and the springs are still quite strong. So now it is in in my pocket.

Now I am itching to go look for the other knives from the Prince Albert promotional this knife was made for.

One for each front pocket, one for the belt and the always there knipex.

You’ve got me thinkin’ (not always something you’d want to do).
I have two pockets on the right leg of my carpenter’s jeans…

Haven’t posted in a bit, but I had to hit the pause button on everything else …
#399 has arrived!

Very pleased with this one!
Beautiful design choices, and beautifully executed!
The main is a pinchable 5 and the secondary is 6.5 … ish ;)
Nice covers that will just get nicer, flush where she should be - this one’s a hit!
Very grateful to @Spark and the team for making it possible.
👍🏼😎👍🏼
Nice to see you again, Paul. The price of this year’s forum knife, being 60% higher than previous ones, turned me away. And so I convinced myself I didn’t need one.

But even so, I knew I’d enjoy seeing them here, and yours is no exception!🤙

Tell me how you’re doing on your vow to play that pretty Taylor everyday.

More huge knives. I will never get over this Harness Jack, it's just barely behind my #1 Eureka Jack on my favorite GEC list.

I like your romanticization of my weekend Jeff. Truth be told, fire was lit when we arrived, I never let it go cold. There was *no* wind down in the Holler (as we call it, truthfully), nobody had to move on account of smoke once that I recall. It will never happen again! I don't even play, but they had a heckuva band going and we ate 5 times a day 😆 "Sally and the Hurts" was the core of the band, but lots of others showed up and jammed. I heard the most heartbreaking rendition of Angel from Montgomery ever.

Mrs Fleschwund is off work today, and has declared it to be WINDOW WASHING DAY.
So she's off work and that means you aren't? Sounds too much like home... Your pruner and greens look mighty fine today! Hope you're catching some of this rain.
Wow! I’d never heard of them, but a quick search shows you weren’t kidding about a serious campfire band.
I made note to listen to some of their stuff on Yourube!
Good evening porchsters,

Oh Yay, Oh Yay, Oh Yay

I bring glad tidings, yesterday, unbelievably, two knives which had been missing in action for years turned up within hours of each other. The lovely senator, one of my favourite patterns. I had one lost it 😢and missed it so much I bought another and then lost that.😭 it turned up jammed in the sliding track of the car seat, I only found it because the seat would not slide back whilst looking for my wallet.

Second but by no means any less important, my lovely Buck 110, I have not seen this for over 15 years, I opened the box took it out of the case had a quick look put it all back together in the box and never saw it again. Looking for a toner cartridge for the printer in the loft it was jammed in an old bookcase. the patina on the brass is like nothing I have ever seen before, it looks like copper.

Huh. Drop your wallet under the seat, and find a long lost knife. Wayne, stop playing with stuff, and keep your hands on the wheel, ok?
(Just kidding ~ you wouldn’t believe the things that disappear under my car seats)
Now, unless you live alone, you can just go ahead and blame someone else for mis-placing the Buck!

I have been on the hunt for one of these for a little while, and this one arrived about 15 minutes before I walked out the door to head to the airport yesterday. I threw it in my checked bag and didn’t even get a good look at it until I landed last night, in Texas. Seems like an appropriate carry knife for today while I am here. A huge knife, with perfect action on all 4 blades. Looking forward to using this one.

Most excellent Boker USA and the Aussie at work today.

Since I got the Toledo, it's been cutting and striping wires, beat through wood, carved out old caulking, sliced up boxes, deburred copper and pvc pipe, cut pex and tubular pvc. It's been busy.

The thing definitely gets the stamp of approval. I'm gonna have to figure out how to get a new one as a backup! It's a beast.

Glad to see you get that, I bet it will look great with some regular use. Safe travels!

In the modern age of throw away imported veneer on particle board furniture, it’s nice to see someone taking time to keep up the good solid wood furniture.
Thanks! It's a nice oak table, but it's been around for a while and has had 7 rough years since it was drug out of retirement from my parent's attic to serve my family.

The only date I can find on it is 1904 stamped into the large latch to slide the table open to accept the leaves. My grandfather found it in the trash on his block in 1950 or 1951 and rolled it home. It was fixed and finished by a furniture shop sometime in the 60's and has had a few band-aid fixes since then. It went from attic to attic from the early 80's until 2016 when I drug it back out, fixed a few things and refinished it.
Now some of the butt joints on the top are starting to fail and the finish is starting to ware in spots. I am going to strip the finish, disassemble the table, remove the old band aid fixes and make all the necessary repairs before refinishing it again.

To keep on topic: same knife, different day…

Nice pairing, Bob. The coke bottle knife is just is loaded with style, simply classy looking.:thumbsup:
Had a lot of green ash here that was exterminated by the EAB. Thanks to a friend with a Skid Steer and a sawmill, at least I have this…View attachment 2365402
All of the mature ash died, but they dropped seed, so I’ve got a lot of young ones that I’m babying along. It’s a real shame.

Greg, Manny will be seven next month, so he’s in his prime. My late son brought him home as a pup eight months before he passed. For some reason, God’s plan?, Manny has bonded with me, and I with him.
What ya gonna build with all that lumber, Jeff? Or are you just a hoarder that can't see wood go to waste,.......like I am? 😄
I once tried to salvage a diseased stricken white ash. Split a 6" length of log into 6 bow staves, shaped one to bend and had it explode at first bend. I made firewood out of the other 5 worm hole littered staves. Would have made some interesting lookin and useful lumber had I taken the route you did.

Have a wonderful week porch peeps!

Slowly narrowing down long-term keepers. This week's bevy of slicers.

That's a handsome group of knives, Gordon. Nicely photographed too.
Nice day outside for doing some light additional Fall work after coffee and then lunch with some friends . Then I applied some poly urethane to the walking stick project . One more coat and it will be done .

Have this one in the pocket .

Very cool walking stick, Harry.
Welcome back, Greg; your camera seems good as your knives now!:cool::cool: What's your favorite blade combo for a whittler, and for a cattle knife?
- GT
Thanks, Gary. For a whittler I like a clip main, coping and pen secondaries I suppose. My ideal cattle knife would also have a clip main, sheeps foot and punch secondaries.
