What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Most of my leaves, as well as many bags kindly donated by a townie friend, and the leaves I cleaned up from my neighbor, are safely corralled in fencing bins to break down into leaf mold and compost. But I’ve been waiting for three Norway Maples that have been holding on. This morning, I ser they’re finally dropping.

Speaking of big airports, ever been to Denver International? You have to board a train to get from the gates to the baggage claim.

Enjoy that open water while you can!

A large portion of ā€œyardā€ around one side of our house is all river rock, and getting the leaves off the rocks is the worst. I can’t really blow them, at least not with the blower I have, and I think anything more powerful might also blow the rocks. My blower does double as a leaf vacuum, and I've found that that works best for getting them off the rocks, but it’s a time consuming process.

I also have a maple in the front yard that I’m waiting on. I don’t know/remember what kind it is, but I think you and I have discussed it before. In addition to taking forever to drop all its leaves, it provides no beautiful fall colors whatsoever. In the summer the leaves are dark green with a little bit of red around the edges. In the fall, they fade to a slightly paler green, shrivel up and (eventually) fall off.

I’ve never been to the Denver airport, but my wife has.

Yep, that water won’t be liquid for too much longer, although it looks like we’ve got at least another week of ā€œwarmā€ weather.

Thank You to all the Veterans who served their Country both here and abroad.

Been carrying a fixed blade a lot recently. I do not like belt carry so I have made some modification to the sheath to be able to clip it to my front pocket. Still experimenting with it. Case is still in tote and will include the Titusville lamb. Hope everyone had a great day.

Wow! Very lean, and extra thick cut bacon!
I’d drive a few extra miles for that baconšŸ¤™

View attachment 2387112I know we have a lot of veterans here, and I honor all of you. All branches, peacetime, or during wars, we owe you.
Thanks, Jeff…I’m lucky that I only have three miles to drive to get that quality bacon. The Green Hatch Chile bacon I posted this morning was super lean, meaty and tasty. I saved enough to top a burger for tomorrow nightā€˜s dinner.

Can't believe I've never paired these two before, my biggest slipjoint and smallest (and sharpest) fixed blade. I'm pretty pleased with myself.

But I'm way more pleased with this guy, who I took to his first Cub Scout meeting today. He took right to it! I've been trying to get him to go, without seeming pushy (kids push back), for about 18 months now. Huge sigh of relief, and I'm all puffed up with Dad-pride. 😁. Looking forward to hopefully years of helping him with merit badges and outings with the troop.
I’m happy for you my friend! Those were absolutely my favorite childhood memories, and they were with my dad when I was in the scouts. He helped our troop build our own kayaks as well as take us on countless camping adventures in the woods. I hope you and your son have just as many awesome memories as I have with him.

Love that pic Steve  :)
Been burning the candle at both ends for about a month now. While Veterans Day isn’t until tomorrow, I’ll be on the road (again) so I’m posting my weekend carry today. Thanks to all of those that have worn the uniform.
