Thank you Patrick! I've always been sad that I didn't find a good scout troop to join @11y/o, when we moved to the city. The one in my suburban school was gluing glitter on things in a basement on a nice day when I tried it. Not my jam. I do not know how to build a kayak - your Dad must be pretty handy?I’m happy for you my friend! Those were absolutely my favorite childhood memories, and they were with my dad when I was in the scouts. He helped our troop build our own kayaks as well as take us on countless camping adventures in the woods. I hope you and your son have just as many awesome memories as I have with him.
Already had that talk with him, he definitely wants a SAK on account of all the tools. Smart kid!My wife’s mom came and stayed with us through each of her three births. It’s a mom thing, and a beautiful thing.
I sure hope he enjoys Scouts, Fred.
For sure, you can get him his first Cub Scout Knife, and help him earn his Totin Chip.
Thank you Bart, I am SUPER excited! That’s awesome FC. I hope he enjoys it. Lots of learning and fun and memories ahead for both of you![]()
I remember when I healed that fast... Shred hard dudes! My son’s wrist is healed up so we’re back to our Sunday morning skate park routine. I had my Alox SAK today.
Congrats to your Bucs, my friend.
Adorable Pup.
Thank you, David.Nice 54 buddy!
Super cool camp knife, Jack.
That's a pretty cool looking little pocket knife.
Congrats on shedding the cane! I'll guess January 1st, my mom's birthday.Ok, it's no more cane day. To celebrate, I have a give away.
I only ask that you are a regular visitor to the porch( I retain the right to acknowledge your status). No congrats please.
He or she who is closest to guessing month and day of my wife's birthday will win both knives. ( Case '65-'69 and custom Waboom Margrate). I will announce winner on Tuesday 1 pm.
Post guess and I will acknowledge with thumbs up.
I apologize now if this takes up too much space. I really don't know any other way.View attachment 2388476

I am glad to hear about your recuperation. It’s a great feeling to be able to ditch the cane, I know, I’ve been there too. Lots of hard work involved
If you will allow me, I’ll go with November 14th.
That is a wonderful looking piece of history. Any idea on the age? Agreed, if it could talk I bet it would have some tales to tellHappy Monday porch sitters! The sun is shining after a rainy, cold weekend. Toting one of my favorite Case knives today. This one fits my criteria of ‘knives with stories’ to tell. The jigging is worn smooth, the Case name on the shield is barely perceptible, and the blades have a level of patina that can only come with years of use. There’s always a temptation to shine these up, but I can usually resist (finally, being lazy pays!). Have a good week!!

is this; riding in my favorite polishing sock, so I can fuss with shining it up here and there whilst going about my daily activities.

It is an old one … 1940-64 … so likely older than me!!That is a wonderful looking piece of history. Any idea on the age? Agreed, if it could talk I bet it would have some tales to tell

Wow....Jeff you have two prime examples of what GEC is capable of creating.Wod handles really class up your 102 Woodsman!
@Jackeywax31 ~ I really like Grandpa’s old Case Belt Knife! Real treasure. Did the original sheath disappear, or disintigrate?
I sawJJ Cahill ”liking” some posts, so he must still be around.
Maybe his camera broke?
Hopefully we’ll see his knives in their trademarked poses soon.
Two from GEC today. I don’t have that many from them, but they do make a solid pocket knife.View attachment 2389531View attachment 2389532
Have a great day today, my friends!
Hi Harry, thanks for the compliment my friend. The maker is out of Georgia and sells through AAPK and goes by Garyslt. I believe it is a full through tang, it has a pewter end cap on the antler pommel. The handle is osage with pewter spacers and is very comfortable and well balanced in hand. I can't recall what he told me about the type of blade steel but it holds a very sharp edge through use. A high quality handmade knife in my opinion and came at a very reasonable price. Some very nice photos of some nice looking knives Greg !!!! Who made the top knife with the Scandi Grind blade ?? Does that blade have a full through Tang ?
Harry
Thank you! I applaud Buck’s use of straight grain palm wood on these.Wod handles really class up your 102 Woodsman!![]()
You have a couple of nice ones there, Jeff. I'd like to see GEC produce another round of that big Jack exactly like yours, the equal end frame pattern and that light colored micarta really appeals to me.Wod handles really class up your 102 Woodsman!
