What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

You take one Thanksgiving weekend off Blade Forums and you can look forward to spending the rest of the month (and some of the next one) trying to catch up on the totin' thread! I don't have the light for fresh pics at the moment, but I've been carrying these two the last couple days:

Titusville Old Man Jack wearing Chorizo al Vino Tinto covers (they call it Catalina Wine Mixer bone but I don't see it...)

and, a Tuna Valley Phoenix Jack in Green Maple Burl to which I've performed my first successful (in my mind at least) potentially destructive modification to a slipjoint knife - I added an EO notch. This knife had a brutal pull weight compounded by a less than ideally placed nail nick and had damaged my thumbnail on more than one occasion. With the modification, it's an absolute joy to open and use.

I just noticed that both of these pics prominently feature chorizo. I must be on a kick. There're worse vices out there... 🤣

I remember that thread now, thanks !
I don't enter many giveaways, but I was glad to win that special knife :)

Jack Black Jack Black could you send me a message, I have a question I need help with. Thank you
No PM facility? I think you can leave a message on my page (click on my avatar), but don't think there's any notification for them anymore. It's not a good system (hence the PMs)

Hello Jack,

They come and go don't they knife companies, it must have been some set up in it's heyday.

Sadly its not Blue John, I picked it up in India a few years ago, the guy told me what it was at the time but I forget, its been stood in the hearth for a few years but the iridescence in the pearl reminded of it so I gave it a quick wash to get the dust off. :)

Its stamped "cutlers to his majesty" so I was thinking George the IV.

They do mate, but Harrison Brothers & Howson went back to the days of water-power, and were one of the best I think :) The mineral may well be much the same stuff :D Very attractive
