What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Wow! Mastodon ivory? I always love to see Paleo points; I have a few Daltons I found when I was a kid, but I never found or handled any Clovis. Did you knap these yourself?

Mastodon. Buck has put out a fair number of mastodon handles over the years. Some say mastodon and some say mastodon or mammoth. I have a “mastodon” 704 with cross cut scales and the schreger lines are definitely mammoth. I have a barehead 500 that has enough schreger lines visible at the end of the handle to identify it as mastodon. All of the paperwork from Buck says the source of the scales is Alaska.

I didn’t knap those Clovis points. One is Knife River flint and the other is Edwards chert.

Soda scout again today.

17026153460996792887608542523454.jpgthis is one of the better gec knives, nice heft and strength to it,and it fits in my bearded owl clipped pouch which fits nicely in my pocket, my only beef is that the spey was either a clip like blade or an awl like on the harness jack.the last thing I want is all the neighbors bringing me there cats to spey.i just think a knife needs one blade with a good point.

Out in the misty woods to clear the mind.

In my pocket a nice Case 6347.

In the cold 0°C nothing beats a hot brew.
Making coffee with my UL solid fuel stove.

The more I am out the more I enjoy those silent cookers.
For a cup of brew the fuel tablets are ok for boiling 0.5l of water in this condutions, for freeze dried food I got a alcohol stove out of a can and for real cooking a Trangia stove.
I enjoy the silence compared to my canister or gas stove a lot.

Great pairing for the woods Steve :)
Never tried that Jack, I might treat myself for Boxing day breakfast, :)
Let me know what you think :)
Apple sounds tasty as well! have you any Tripe recipe? I have not found anything to make it palatable yet, second worst thing I have eaten after Turkish diced sheeps tongue soup. And I can usually eat anything, hence my bot so svelt figure. 🤪
You could try throwing it in the bin, and ordering a takeaway! 😂 ;) My granddad used to love it, but I have only tried it once :D I was with a mate, in a working-class area of Rome, in 1978. We went into a small place to eat, just someone's kitchen really, and they only did one dish each day. Tripe came cut up, with a tomato sauce. We thought it was pasta at first, until we realised how chewy it was - like rubber! :D
Excellent pairing my friend :)

Got my Hartshead Barlow, and an Old Friend :) Have a great Friday everyone
