What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Very dense fog last night and early this morning. Couldn't see the tip of my nose it was so thick. To top it off, it was a freezing/ice fog - not freezing rain but fog. Froze on contact with anything it touched. Today being Trapper Tuesday, I think I'll tote this Trapper a gift from Paul Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 . Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

Glad you’re enjoying the trapper. Got to start watching Fargo. Been meaning to but just haven’t gotten around to it.
Great pair Paul, that is my favorite spey I've seen you with since the ball-cutting bug hit you hard.

Good Idea, Bob. Your amazing collection of music and knives should keep you busy to forget about outside.
@Rufus1949 Agreed sir. It’s 17 degrees here and that’s not ok for my thin skin 😂. McNaitives all around 🍻.

Nice photos Bart. We are fortunate enough to have Eagles around here all year long, but
I never get tired of seeing one. A few weeks ago I saw one land in the tree when I was at my neighbor’s watching football. Then, a few minutes later he was joined by another one. View attachment 2460383View attachment 2460384

Thanks pal, got a fractured skull, but only 'little' fractures apparently! ;) I hope you enjoy Fargo, you might even recognise a few folk! :D

Nice to have so little on my mind that I can give so much thought to pocket knives.
Well, they say nature hates a vacuum, Jer.😎
Two fine interests and a fantastic knife, Bob.

Very complementary blades, Jon, very nice.

Nothing not to like there, great clip point and usefully lamb, Paul.

Done.🤙

Got a medium Klein lockback, and fixed and modded Opinel No.8 today.
Back in the late ‘70s, I did some backpacking ~ parts of the Appalachian Trail, West Virginia, the Grand Canyon, the Oachita Mtns. in Arkansas, etc. Pre-internet, so all my gear was purchased at small specialty shops, and mail order catalogs. That was how I discovered Opinels. Backpackers favored them, as well as Swiss Army Knives for their utility and light weight. Many years later, I dropped the Opi point down on concrete, and broke off the tip. Then more years later, found it in a toolbox, and decided to re-shape the blade and “customize” the beechwood.800650DC-9AE9-4AF5-A7E9-3D62D0135A60.jpegA835BA99-9099-4390-A34E-C9132DAC0F4E.jpegBalmy today ~ nine degrees as I type this.

321Bandaid 321Bandaid was this modded?

That is gorgeous!!!
Yessir! It has been modded. My initial hopes were that I had found a rare factory "diamond", but upon further inspection and a couple of professional opinions... it is not factory. The blades have been cleaned up/polished (you can see a few sanding/grind marks in certain places in the right light) and, of course, it has been recovered in stag. Based on the amount of life left in the blades, I'm a bit baffled by it. Perhaps, it was just a bit rusty? A pretty decent restoration, I think.

Just the same one, over and over! 🤣
That rancher is getting some serious pocket time. Great find, Todd.
Thanks Paul. Nice slim carry. 😎👍

That there's a good boy, I can tell! Sorry for delayed response Patrick, you were so prompt with the pooch photo.

Great pair Paul, that is my favorite spey I've seen you with since the ball-cutting bug hit you hard.

Now that outside doesn't hurt exposed flesh, I hope to resume regular photo services 😁
What is the top one. (I wish people it was custom to specify what's in the photos.)

It has the same profile as Montana Knife Company's flagship, also similar to a Buck 110 in some ways. Really nice looking piece, great handle.

Leaving for town in a couple hours. We haven't been since last Thursday so we need to get some vittles for the larder. The Wagon Wheel Cafe is closed on Wednesdays so we'll most likely eat at the Brass Rail. It's lamb stew day and the owner uses lamb meat from the lambs they raise. They serve it with salad and homemade bread. Yummy!!!!! Putting off breakfast to save room for lamb stew. I'll be carrying this Black Curly Maple SS Sowbelly on our adventure.

I enjoyed the Fargo finale. There was some knife content.
I’m sitting out back with a couple of knives. The rain has stopped and it‘s not cold.
I never thought I’d get a MOP knife. I first bought a sheepsfoot with a cap lifter barehead jack with MOP. I found I really liked the covers because depending on the light they always look different. I didn’t have a gunstock and ended up with more MOP. I like it.

Is the Blackwood small or is the smashberry giant?
