Nice 77! I like that era of Schrade’s jigged delrin.
Roasting some coffee today. Carrying this 73 again.

Darker! Darker!
I picked up an old schrade slimline trapper. It’s a little rough, but fine for a user. Neat pattern. Paired with another old well used schrade in the form of barlow.

I put fresh edges on both of them last night with a little dan’s arkansas tri stone. I got a couple of these as new old stock and have been playing around with one of them.

A couple of beauties, Chunk!
Is there a model number on the Slimline?

Good Thursday to you. I listened to the Catch Bit podcast earlier this week. Decided to carry one of Mike’s knives today. So far today I’ve cut some rubber bands, plastic packaging, tape and nicked my finger. Except for the nick it’s a good knife day so far. Lunch time is approaching and I might slice up some salami and cheese. Maybe even thinly.

Thanks. Schrade didnt stamp pattern numbers on the knives themselves during the cut co era, but this slimline trapper is found in the 1930 catalog supplement as 1294 3/8 K. It’s defined as a “slim serpentine jack knife”.
I’m not surprised at all that they called it a type of Serpentine Jack!

I'm always leery of old celluloid, because I don't know much about it, except some of it tends to outgas. That said, I really love the butter and molasses 😍

Albers Lamb today...

So many ghouls, goblens, demons, ghosts, dragons, exo-planet scenery, and other nifty things hiding in the covers. 🥰👍

Going to carry some trusty carbon steel until the Large Case green & black Micarta stockman I won the other day. That stockman will go in my pocket then, along with my Case Sodbuster Jr.
(pairing Case with Case can't be sacreligous or taboo, right?)
Tidioute 823818 Dixie Stockman, Weidmannsheil "sodbuster" pattern hunting/work knife, and the ever present with anything/everything else, Toferner neck knife.

Pens are 3x Hero 329 "Star Trek" (Lexington Gray, 54th Mass. (a nice "Union" blue), and Red-Black, and a hero 1107, with 1st Emperor Noodler's inks.
All have the old Parker "Aerometric" squeeze bulb fill system for bottled ink only. They can't use a cartridge or ink converter. 🥰

Remember folks your training platoon sargeant is always right.

I joined the Army at 16, many times I look back at that first year and realise how much I learnt and still use without thinking.

At the time it seem a lot of repetative pointless bull, well some of it was and some of it was good sound advice.

It was hammered into us all zips, all buttons on pockets must be done up at all times (even when empty),rucksacks (dont you dare say ruck) and pouches the same.

When we left a bivvy area, the training staff would do a sweep and find all sorts of lost stuff, then you where for it.

But it had a purpose, loose your magazine, loose your compass, loose your map (you never marked or folded so as not to give info away) and it could compromise your ability to carry on.

Since ive been using a trekking pole to get around and finding it hard to get into my pockets one handed I had stopped doing it on my outer pockets.

Today on a small walk around a church I lost my glasses in the grass as I didnt zip up my pocket.

I was allready struggling, but then I had to retrace my steps 2 times to find them,it was the equivilent of a 30/40 mile walk for me in my condition.

Lucky the village shop was close by so I bought a coffee and a sausage roll, they even put a seat out for me so I could get my breath back.

Then I carried on to the antique centre.

I hope you dont mind a little practical philosophy. 😁
