This little Keen Kutter whittler is riding in my change pocket today.

Nice scales there navihawk:thumbup: Ebony or is it bone? How's the snap on this? The jigged bone one I have is very light...nice looker though.

Today it has been an elderly pen-knife made in Germany for the Hoffritz NY Dept Store, carbon and bone

Here's my Case Small Coke Bottle with burnt Stag scales and 560 layer Parker Damascus Clip blade.

I always liked the way this puppy held an edge, a little bigger than a Peanut pattern but with a single larger blade it feels bigger.

Great lookin Coke Bottle....

One of these in bone...just an outstanding knife in every way (and takes a wicked edge):

Those are both beauties Elliott. Gotta love that ATS-34 steel too

Almost forgot, Peter you never have bad pics ...

Hi willgoy,
the scales are ebony, and as black as it gets. The spring on mine is a bit light also, but I don't mind as it's sort of a gents knife, not meant for heavy work.I use it more for like a worry stone.
Got #19 today.

A Queen/Dan Burke stockman 12C27 steel, and Moore Maker 5301 of 1095 steel.

Elliott, that is one nice knife. I've got to put that on my wish list.

Neeman, That it does. My previous experience with Sanvick 12C27 is limited to a couple of knives built by PJ Tomes. As anyone who has handled or used one of PJ's knives will know, he does incredible work, especially on his blade grinds. Those knives cut and sharpen really nicely, not to mention the f/f on his work.

That said, I was curious to see how the edge attributes (cutting, edge retention, and ease of sharpening) of the Queen/DB production knife in the same material compares.

Obviously very different grind lines, but the DB came "out of the box" hair shaving sharp. The production knife in 12C27 definitely maintains an edge longer than my 1095 blades. I find it somewhat easier to sharpen than ATS-34, and definitely easier to restore a working edge than D2. All three are high on my list of "user steels". The bottom line, although it's on the smaller side, I'm enjoying using and carrying it.

Hope my very unscientific review helps.

Good review Jay. I'd love to try one of the Queen DB knives. Sandivik seems like it would be a good steel.

Howdy Blues! I really like the amber color in that stag! Very nice!

I went with the slim and reliable Queen City canoe today. Love that knife!

I put on my Case Folding Hunter today just because (I was stuck at home job hunting on the interwebs). It felt nice to have something on to remind me of the outdoors :o
