What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

He ID’d it as a Timber Rattler, then told them it would have been a new state record if Leonard hadn’t cut it’s head off.

I'd say he done the right thing ............ cutting the head off a rattler has to be the right thing to do .... record or not ! 🪱⚔️🗡️🤣

I took it home, and skinned it with my Schrade 293Y Trapper. (KNIFE CONTENT!🤔)

You used too good of a knife for that serpent ! 🤣 Wouldn't want snake blood on my 293.🤣

Yes. It tastes like chicken. With a texture like frog’s legs. Best with KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce…

If it's so good ............ why does it need BBQ sauce? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

There are some things I don't eat and rattlers is one of them. Just "say no" to eating rattlers. 🪱:p

I'd rather just lick the 293 .......... before you used it to skin the serpent, of course ! 🤣

Thanks. We're glad too, had a hefty vet bill afterwards but it was worth it. I can always make more money & we take care of our animals the best we can. She got bit on the forehead right above the eyebrow when she was sniffing too deep in some tall grass. That antivenom costs about $900 per 10 ml vial in case y'all were wondering 😱

Perfectly fine now, no lasting issues.View attachment 2495200

P.S. That's just an average adult rattlesnake around here. We've had some in the past around 6ft long 🐍

Edit to add knife content 😉

She is beautiful.
I can imagine the vet bill. They are like family though.
I grew up in northwest Florida and we have diamondback rattlers, occasional coral snake and cottonmouth moccasins. I will take the diamondback any day. You generally know where it is and it will generally go the other way. Cottonmouths wil.come after you. When you are really close you can smell them. One defense is an acrid smell. I have when sliding a jon boat over a log jam, smelled that odor.
To keep this in track, the mod'd 317 displaced the 112 on the belt and the mini trapper fits nicely in the watch pocket

Spent my weekend up to this point in my shop tillering out a osage Cayuga replica bow that I've been making. Got it done and shooting. Showered up and heading to the other end of the block to my brother and sister in laws to watch the game. Carried these two yesterday and today during shop time.View attachment 2492096View attachment 2492097

Very cool, Greg! Are you coming to the Badger Show this year? (Never mind! I see Harry already asked and you already answered. Looking forward to see y’all there!)

Congratulations to the KC Chiefs but now it’s time to “Play Ball!”View attachment 2492610

I’m definitely ready for baseball season! ⚾

Carrying these two today. 😎👍View attachment 2492811

Nice pair there, Todd. While I have “come over to the dark side” when it comes to using pocket slips for certain knives, I think I have to draw the line at one pocket slip at a time. 🤣

Stupid question is that a state/county shield or a rocker with a quiff?
Far from poor question John. Since it was a gift, I have no idea. Definitely not a state over here.

Mystery shield! 😁

Thought I’d grab something red for Valentine’s Day, so I went with this #15 Boy’s Knife I hadn’t carried in a while. The Albers Lamb has been in my pocket since last week (and before that it was a different Albers Lamb). 😁

Thankfully Julie and I have never cared much about Valentine’s Day, so we do a few things for the girls and that’s about it. Over the weekend I helped Eleanor with her Valentine’s box for school. She wanted The Monster Book of Monsters from Harry Potter, so that’s what we did. (The Lambsfoot in the pic didn’t really get to help much. Most of the required cutting was more suited to scissors and an Xacto knife. I did use the punch/awl on a Victornox Pioneer to punch holes for the eyes.)

Great creativity Barrett.

As for the shield I cannot begin to imagine the thought behind it.🤔

100% agree with you on the rattlesnake vs cottonmouth. I like that buck 317 you got there 👍

Some fantastic gear, love the Albers!

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week is a Zamorano stag (made by Salamandra company) that my wife gave me for Christmas in 2017:

Work Knife of the Week is a chestnut jigged bone SodBuster Jr I won in a Big Biscuit GAW (this knife is actually carried EVERY day year-round, but it is the work knife representative this week):

Fine stag GT, love your “daily driver” too :)

Maiden voyage for a new fixed blade today. So far we are getting along famously.

I'm not bored at all .............. but I am curious about how you drop all of those chained together knives into one pocket. 🤔 🤔 🤔 ;)🤣😍
Not doubting your word on it though ! 😊
I would like to see all of the SAKs opened some day ........ so I can see what tools they have on them. ;)🗡️😊
The SAK's are on the SAK belt carrier, behind the 03:00/15:00 belt loop.
here u go. All opened ... (cept the one multi purpose corkscrew, but it is visible.)

The short and long philips screwdrivers on the Hercules store under the pliers and scissors respectively. The pliers or scissors has to be opened to access the philips, and can then be closed. (need reopen to store the philips, of course.)

Top view of the Hercules.

If the Hercules had the multi purpose package hook and pen blade, I could omit the Huntsman from my carry.

Hey! Cut me a break. I was only about 26, and I thought EVERYTHING needed BBQ sauce.
And this was before KC Masterpiece got big and eventually got bought by a huge conglomerate.
The first time they got it at the grocery in Camdenton was a big deal. I think the owner or his salesman delivered it in his car.

Don’t knock rattlesnake. It’s a real clean white meat. Not like groungog, that’s dark and super greasy. Not bad with a lot of greens, though.
Back to knives, though. That 293 Schrade hooked me on their Serpentine Jack shape for life. I can’t even guess how many fish it took care of.
She is beautiful.

Jack, good day to ya! Enjoy Market Day in jovial Leeds.

I would never do it to a file that still had life in it’s teeth, but if it was dull beyond help, I vote you put a quenching bucket next to your bench grinder, and make a knife.
If we only had more time, eh?
