What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Received a wonderful surprise gift, a GEC Coon Skinner, from a virtual friend, who has provided some sage advice on collecting pocket knives. Very neat pattern.

Ordered a new slip from Piper Robertson for it and a couple more as I have a couple other knives that need to be carried.

Gave the blade a shot of Hornady One Shot Case Lube to keep it shiny and new looking as it is a carbon steel blade. So, the dry film leaves it not so shiny for a photo, but the blade is shown about to go for its maiden voyage today.

Thank you Gus!

I think the screwdriver on that TL-29 has seen better days.:)
I’ll tell you what happened.
Some years ago, while trolling the auction site, I bought a Camillus TL-29. I liked it.
I bought more. Plentiful and cheap.
I started reading threads about them here and on AAPK. I discovered they have been made by so many knife companies that it’s hard to find a comprehensive list. I was never intending to collect them all, just the ones I liked. Always looked for full, undamaged blades, and nice scales.

Then, I discovered the modding done by glennbad glennbad . And I was inspired to give it a try. I did some blade deletes, and handled them in bone, stag, wood, and as in the case of this one, micarta.
Then I realized the beauty of that utility blade. And felt guilty about deleting it. So then, I bought a few that had been molested. This one had been crudely re-shaped on a bench grinder into a sabre/clip shape. I felt those were fine fodder for guilt free modding. So that is how I came to turn that blade into a carving blade. I gave one away, and kept this one. It’s like the coping blade on a carpenter’s whittler ~ perfect for certain woodworking jobs.
