What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Will change the Barlow and stockman tomorrow. (day 8 of the Barlow challenge ... have the Barlow down to 1 of three ... Stockman depends on which Barlow ... tho TBH if I go with the TC 14 Barlow I won in Waynorth's GAW a couple years ago, I might tote my Case tear drop with a Damascus Wharncliffe blade with it, rather than a Stockman ...)

Was going to go over to Canby (a small, flash in the pan, town) about eighteen miles West of us to see if we could spot one of the wolves that have been roaming around that area for the past couple weeks. One rancher has claimed one of his cattle was killed by a wolf. Anyway, it's just starting to snow so the wolves will have to wait for another day. What with the mountain lions sighted in the area a few weeks ago and now these wolves I'm going to have to post Cindy on the front porch with a shotgun to stand guard over the homestead. Sausage - maybe hash and eggs for breakfast. I'll be totin this Bull Nose for the day. Should be enough to repel boarders.

I was scrolling tv channels between Matlock and Perry Mason, and acidentally paused the remote on a comedy channel. Well, actually it was a weather channel squeezed in between real comedy channels
aka: “news”.
They had a map of the US with a big banner (chiron in news show speak) saying “Record Heat Across Country!”
Gotta give credit where it’s due ~ they got it right. It pushed up past 50, and if they bat 1000 today (baseball analogy for those whose thoughts turn to that in the spring), it will get warmer than we keep our thermostat.
In the spring, a young man’s heart turns toward romance. Their Dads and Grandads turn toward watching baseball. Which is odd when there’s perfectly good Andy Griffith and Bonanza reruns on.
Apparently a young squirrel’s heart turns to love, too. Look how this young buck treerat is going all out to breed. He arranged pine cones.7D43C01F-E45B-4FC6-A5C1-719F5A089631.jpegBack to knives.
There are two kinds of awl/punch blades on my various Vics, Wengers, and camp knives. I like this kind. The point pierces, and the side, on which you have put a razor edge, cuts a precise and neat hole as you twist it in the leather.E9A4C3B3-DA48-4331-B745-9A2226A02AC1.jpeg Essential if your weight changes after buying your favorite belt. You like how I didn’t specify which direction your weight changed?
The other kind is just a fat sewing needle, Good for lacing leather. After you’ve used something else to cut the hole.
I used a small twist drill in the drill press on the rare occasions I’ve made knife sheaths.
They should make an SAK with both types.

After my coffee in the sun I noticed my shed covering was blowing loose.

It went overcast and was about to rain.

Like me the shed is on its last legs so I had to be careful. 🤣

I devised a plan, get my step ladder, then trim a old walking pole to have a flat edge (to hold glue) so I could reach over and put glue on the flap.

There was only one tool for the job my Ukranian knife sent to me by

Jack Black

My hands are fortnightly (to weak 😂) so I couldnt do it with cuts,no bother I chopped.

Look at how neat a job it did, superb stuff and no sign of wear on the blade.

If you havent got one of their knives you should.

My glue was like treacle and wouldnt flow well, but that was good as it should set quicker.

Up and down the ladder a few times puffing like a train with the dodgy ticker. 😁

When I had enough glue on it I fetched a "Dutch Ho" (no not what you are thinking) and flipped the cover back and gently smoothed it down. 🤭

I also got to use some of my favourite tools like the Opinel saw and knippex pliers.

10 minutes after I cleaned all my tools and put them away it rained.
