York Cutlery premium stockman (German import.) Not the best fit and finish but it is a bone and carbon steel stockman, 3 5/8", half stops, and a 3" clip blade magically crammed in there, which is some kind of holy grail. I think I would send this out for a pattern if I were to order a custom stockman.
Among other projects today is one to finish reprofiling the main blade on this Queen canoe. I figure if I put it in my pocket it might actually get done.
Frank, reprofiling that knife is a bit like decorating a room: seems like a drag, but once you get on with it, it's rewarding! Does take time though.....
Earlier today it was a Tidioute 56 in Amber Bone and this needs a sharpening too.
I think I may have found my favorite knife, Browning "Bridger":
I discovered Browning knives sort of by accident. I was browsing that online auction site, minding my own business looking at various stockman patterns and discovered a 3 1/2" Japanese made bone handled Browning. The price was too good so I snagged it.
This led me to occasionally look for more. Browning had a number of rosewood handled ones made in the US and Germany, but the one that really grabbed my attention is the above posted Bridger. I love the Turkish clip, the blade selection, the way the sheepsfoot is angled out of the handle like a sowbelly, and the steel. On the box Browning calls it "440C type", from what I understand it is actually AUS-8. A couple strokes on a leather belt and the clip is hair popping sharp. I like both of them, but especially the Bridger.
Now I'm eyeing up all the US and German stockmans, oh when will it end?
