A quick check of the tuning on my homebrew Telecaster copy while the flock filters in to their pews.

Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett Barehead Jack. Love at first sight. It was one of the first ones I inspected. Put it back twice, but kept coming back to it. Greg was laughing at me, and egging me on. “You know you want it. And it might be gone if you come back for it.”

My Badger Blade Show purchase. As usual, I spent my allowance with Mike at the first booth inside the door. Right after Harry found his Pumas.
Congrats Jeff.....great find.👌

change a little earlier than I expected today.

I believe Master Nessmuk would approve of my choices.
All three are "sturdy" pocket knives ... one is even his suggested pattern! 🤯😳😇👍 (SHOCKING I would/could own one.🙄)

Colt CT609 Black G10 series with "heavy duty" or "hard use" Ti coated T10 carbon steel blades.
Blades are a full 4mm thick at the tang and spine to the swedge on both the spear point primary and pen secondary.
(This model was moved to the Rough Rider/Ryder line when Colt exited the cutlery market, back in 2017. I don't know the RR number offhand.)

Rough Rider RR1569 Black G10 series large moose that I bought in late 2017, after COLT left the cutlery market.
This is another of the COLT knives that was moved to the Rough Rider line.
("fun fact": so are all the Rough Rider "Buckshot Bone" series.)
Blades are the same Ti coated T10 "heavy duty"/"hard use" 4mm at the tang and spine to the swedges as the CT609 canoe.

I don't recall the Colt "CT" number off hand. I believe I have it in an (now old) email from SMKW. I'll try to find it. I'll update if I find that email, and if anyone cares. 😇👍

DOUK DOUK EL BARAKA.
I don't know what carbon steel they used. Whatever it is, it is starting to patina nicely. 😁👍

The canoe and moose are in RFP. Douk Douk is clipped to a split ring on the 03:00/15:00 belt loop.
I'm not sure why I don't carry these more often ...

NOT SHOWN:
The SAK Hercules and 2023 L.E. "Swiss Spirit" Companion, the Toferner, and DM neck knife ... and of course the two moderns I got indi habit a totin.... 🙄

There was some doubt that I might not have been able to go to the Badger Blade show because of the snow rate when I got up this morning but it did slack off and I was able to go . I went with the intention of getting a Puma and a Winchester Black Box Coffin . I did pick up 2 Pumas but no Winchester . A Puma 6398 Fixed Blade and a Pony Folder and both were in good Stag . The fixed blade is not perfect nor is the sheath , but worth the price . The folder is in very nice shape but it is Stainless with brass liners . Currently unable to date either knife . My best guess now is 1970's on both . I also had a great time with some great guys .

Nice Pumas! If that 6398 doesn't have the date code on the guard it likely predates the date code era, so pre-1964. I find that the date codes on the folders like the Pony are sometimes hard to see. Sometimes you have to clean the inside of the liners well and look at them with a loupe with good lighting to really make them out. Usually on the liner that has the shield.

Today it's Paul's gift.

Thanks for the kinds words my friend . The 6398 does have the Code on the guard but is not recognized when checking the Code chart at Puma . I have not seen the Pony Date Code yet , but you have given me a good hint as to where it is . Thank you very much .

Thanks again for your help . I did find the Date Code on the Middle Brass Liner . It is 13971 which is the first half of 1979 .

I’m headed back to Wisconsin in May to visit Dad. One of these years I’m going to have to time so I could visit the show.
