Been a minute again, life has intruded lately. On the bright side, I come bearing new (to me) knives!

A perfect pair. Thanks to @Buckibbq for a very smooth trade for the Grinling. The hunt was worth, it *is* love! 🥰

A really lovely surprise from Will Power Will Power showed up - my first (certainly not my last) Winchester, a swell-center splitback that is perhaps the most perfect watch-pocket knife ever? Cam tangs all around, nicely jigged bone, carbon steel blades just the right thickness, hits the nail on the head 🤗 I actually prefer this to the GEC 33 version, which I had tried some time back and crossed off my list due to my extreme finickiness about clip blades. Okay, maybe it's a prejudice. I'm working on it, you all help 😉.
Also thoughtfully included was a fun post-card with Bears, and a coin (I *do* collect foriegn coins!). Apparently that superstition about knife-giving and friendship exists across the Atlantic as well, but I was unaware of the talisman effect of adding a coin. Anyways, a great excuse to throw something in future porch-bound packages so I shall endeavor to follow Will's good example. Thank you again Will, very thoughtful and useful, just like your posts here 😉
Very glad to hear you like it :) But you've only got yourself to blame, I mean, sending me an undercover knife as a surprise gift ......:D The BB knives are very worthwhile but becoming tricky to locate now. I agree that the Whittler offers a lot in compact form, there are many other BB patterns there to look for too.

Thanks, Will

GEC 15 Urban Jack helped with some little modifications of a new Opinel No 8. I've taken to deepening the curve in the handle. And then an odd ball step of using another knife blade or screw driver to push a tooth pick down the blade well to act as a spacer. Both of these combine to make the blade perfectly punchable.

If I'm understanding correctly you are using the toothpick to make up for the lack of a kick on the blade. Then the blade will not hit the handle and result in a dull spot. Brilliant! I'm going to need to try that one on one of my Opinels.
