Almost made it to the weekend.

Hormel garlic lemon pork loin in the stick burner smoked for a couple hours using applewood to 140 internal then seared a couple minutes on each side. So easy, so good, on sale at local grocery for $5. Using the leftovers for tacos this evening. After seeing the condition of my 83 I flitzed, stropped, and oiled it. Have a great weekend!

Sure thing. The maker is a member here, @Daado. It’s a great little fixed blade in 52100 steel, I believe. It was a gift from a friend and I love it.

This place, you’ll want to have an at least Cub Scout level of plant identification skills before you touch things like that vine.

You can still make out the >-voos-> over USA. The pitting and the old attempt at sanding it out don’t bother me. It is pretty old. Still snappy and scalpel sharp. At least it never got fluffed β€˜n buffed.

Thank you! 😊 Looks like you have all the blade shapes with you today. πŸ‘ Reminds me of how I carry extra knives on Fridays just to make sure nothing gets in my way of reaching Friday night on time! 🀣

Today’s carry is an Ulster WWII Army issue knife made for the 10th Mountain Division. It includes a Phillips head for adjusting snow skis. Another version has the Phillips feature on the bail.
Love the clip instead of the usual spearπŸ€™

Hey - this preserve has some huge hardwoods. Picture a tall, straight walnut tree, 2 1/2 ft. thick at chest height, with a big hairy poison ivy vine as thick as your forearm climbing the tree.
My town just made the Chicago am news. A bull got loose.πŸ€“

Carrying the #92 today; still posting from Jeanette’s Pier. Naturally Mrs Crappie is still out fishing me. She had this drum on the pier before I even had a line out! πŸ₯΄

I was going to ask you yesterday with your catch at Jeannine’s Pier ~ do you keep the drums, and if so, how do you cook them?
Freshwater drums in the midwest never made my list of eating fish, but maybe salt drum are not the same. Sure is a lot of meat there.

Adding to carry. "D" (1980) date code Western 062 two blade folding hunter, in the original sheath. I think the covers are bone.

(since my name is "Steve" it does not bother me a previous owner engraved our name on it.)

TL;DR: I didn't steal the milk crate - it was Gramps.

Upon my grandfather's discharge from the U.S. Navy (where he discovered he didn't like being given orders) he started his own business as a milkman in Miami, FL(A - as Lou Reed said...).

In the beginning, he worked with small local dairies but toward the end of his career, the Sealtest corporation (a Breyers-Good Humor brand) started buying up the dairies and putting the squeeze on independent milkmen to sign on with them as salaried delivery drivers, for the men's own routes, and for less pay (albeit with health benefits, which his family never had growing up). Tough call.

Being the stubborn son-of-a-gun (my grandmother's words) that he was - he refused and made life harder, though perhaps more fulfilling but I don't think so, for himself and the family.

I live in his former home, and the milk crate came with the place. I like to think that his theft of this crate was just his small way of sticking it to the man. He always said they were trying to get rid of the milkmen. Maybe he was right. Also maybe I have some siblings out there I don't know about. Anybody remember that old stereotype? πŸ˜‚

The same sodbuster jr I’ve had all week with a couple of my projects. One is an older tomahawk I put on a shorted axe haft. The other is a knife I made this week. Not sure how I’ll carry it. I will probably get the leather out and make a sheath for it. That’s still a bit away. I still need to put an edge on it. Happy Friday, everyone. IMG_2692.jpeg

Nice lamb, Jeremy, and beautiful stag on the #73, Gabe. I've got my freshly modded #39 in pocket.

Lot of talk - errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr typing about Stockman knives lately so thought I'd carry this SS 3347 today. Sausage and eggs for breakfast.

I get it, stockmen make great knives to carry and use, yours is no exception Ed.

10th Mountain Division, Ft. Drum, NY is about an hour up the road from me. I did a lot of contract work there over the years. Nice knife!

I am way behind on going thru the threads but I finally have time to post again . We are currently in Muncie , Ind. due to the death of a very good friend . He and I played a lot of basketball together and Nancy and I have been very good friends with the couple since 1963 . I gave him this knife probably back in 2022 . Neither he nor I had ever used it . I checked it out for Dan's widow and it is still in like new shape but I will just post an old photo from back when I still had it .
