Yeah, seems no matter what you do, something always manages to find its way through the fence at some point.Sounds very similar to us in this part of Australia. Hopefully you get a good break.
We’re coming into spring after a very dry winter, most farms haven’t stopped feeding out grain and hay and with things staying dry it’s likely they’ll have to continue doing so until next autumn/winter unless we have summer rain.
We ran beef shorthorns growing up, neighbours had charolais. Barb and a hot wire on each side and they’d still get through![]()
I love working the cattle with dogs. I’ve always used border collies on our cattle. They’re super smart and super eager to please. My newest dog is half catahoula and half Idaho shag which is border collie/kelpie/airdale terroir. He’s one of the best dogs I’ve had, also smart, eager to please, and much less neurotic than a border collie.Totally unrelated to knives, was watching a show on kelpies in Australia working sheep and next season they are doing one with border collies. I’m hoping they do one with heelers running cattle. I’m a Texas redneck so we’re genetically predisposed to wanting a bunch of dogs.
Putting out some mineral today.![]()
Love the stag on that,I worked on a dairy farm when young that had two border collies and It was cool to say away and off they went directing them back to the barn at a slow walk so not to upset them for milking, lightly nipping at the Achilles of the stubborn, but like me they to had unpleasant meetings with the bull but they had skills to get away lol.Yeah, seems no matter what you do, something always manages to find its way through the fence at some point.
