What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I figure my weight might give me a chance, as the board would sink and become a hydrofoil, and I'd be braced by being planted knee-deep.
I'm in no hurry to test that hypothesis, however, scientist though I be.

I envy your ability to carry out thought experiments, just like Einstein! :thumbsup::thumbsup: 🤓

That's a cool wallet (?) Gary!
...
Cool wallet, Gary 👍
...
Thanks, Michael and Bart. :)
Several years ago, I thought a 3-fold wallet with vertical orientation might be a helpful way to organize some of the many knives I carried simultaneously. When I saw that one with the baseball stitching on clearance, I couldn't resist. Here's an old photo of the contents of the wallet one week:

I don't live in a big city, but in a small one (Ermesinde) on the outskirts of Porto, so the population that goes on holiday hasn't made much of a difference.👍
Thanks for the info, José. :)

Thanks Gary. I had to drop to my knees once in some very small rapids, otherwise they’re pretty stable.
...
Thanks for the stability assessment, Bart. :)
I've been amazed by the range of stability in various watercraft. I think I've capsized a canoe almost every time I've used one, but I don't think I've ever tipped over in a 14' kayak.

I had that one as well and traded it off. Nice little knives, for sure
Yeah, a good-sized sheepsfoot combined with a sturdy poker is a handy set of tools. :thumbsup::cool:

5K Qs 5K Qs - They've closed down quite a few of them in California. They are leaving ours open as there isn't another pharmacy within 100-miles of us. Rite Aid is out of bankruptcy and is forming under another name. We've been told ours will assume that name eventually.
Glad you're able to keep the your only nearby pharmacy, ED. :thumbsup::cool:
We still have lots of options after Rite Aid closed here, but going to someplace new takes some adjustment. The Walgreen's we were assigned to is about 2.5 miles away (same as our Rite Aid was); there's a Walgreen's just a half-mile from us, but it's set up like a "ghetto pharmacy" with almost all of their medicines, including all the over-the-counter stuff, under lock and key, so I find it kind of inconvenient.

Thank you GT. It's three and five eighths inches closed.
Thanks for the length info, Rob. That's about the perfect length IMHO, just like a canoe! 🤓

Interesting model number! :cool::cool:
883 is a prime number (divisible by only 1 and itself), but even more fascinating, 883 is the 153rd prime number on a list of primes in increasing order, and 153 is the only 3-digit number (I'm quite sure) that is equal to the sum of the cubes of its digits: 1^3 + 5^3 +3^3 = 1+125+27 = 153.
ETA: Turns out that my confidence that 153 is the ONLY 3-digit number equal to the sum of the cubes of its digits is NOT warranted. 370, 371, and 407 are also equal to the sums of the cubes of their digits. So 883 is NOT as special as I claimed, but it's still quite doggone special! :rolleyes:

Notable pair of knives! :cool::thumbsup:
Since we're in election season, I'd vote for the cattle knife. 🤓

Well, Cindy has what I have so we're both down for the count. Had enough energy this morning to put my jeans on and dropped this 501 Squire in my pocket. ????? for breakfast.

Nice Buck lockback, ED. :thumbsup::cool:
Have you got any home COVID tests? I was surprised that my wife and I tested positive for COVID in July, since the symptoms were not very similar to what we were warned about 4 years ago.

Thanks, Gary.👍
It's kind of rare, that only 30 were made.;)
That IS rare, José! :eek:
Thanks for the information about your Böker Barlow.

Groovy S&M stockman, Jeff! :thumbsup:🤓

I’d wear overalls more often, but both of mine have one fatal flaw. The bottom of the front pockets are stiched to the legs, meaning that when I sit on something low so that my knees are higher than my hips, pocket knives slide right out.
That seems like a design flaw, Jeff. o_O Growing up on a dairy farm, my brothers and I never wore overalls, I suppose because my Dad never did (although HIS Dad wore them quite often). I bought a pair of Big Mac overalls sometime in the 70s, but really haven't worn them very much. My objection is that stuff always falls out of the chest pockets when I have to sit on a toilet.

Today's carry is an oddity that I picked up in 2016 at a web store that sold TSA confiscated knives. I have never seen a pattern quite like it and since it was cheap and had a sheepsfoot blade (my favorite) I grabbed it.
A Winchester 4660714A. I would guess an Asian origin.
3 1/8" closed length. The frame shape resembles a canoe, except the metal covers have no bolsters and have pinched ends. Some sort of stainless blade steel. Two spring design with a pull of about a 6 (assuming a 5 for an SAK). Built like a brick telephone booth and about that ugly, but surprisingly satisfying to carry and use. (Seriously, who puts black stripes on traditional knife blades.)

That looks like a winner to me, Frank! :thumbsup::cool:

1971 Case Medium Stockman and a 1970 Mini Copperhead for Saturday. 😊

That Butler is intriguing, Steve! :cool::thumbsup: The shape of the handle reminds me of a gunstock pattern (but curvy).

Fine examples of the species! :cool::cool:

A niece, who is a registered nurse, came out to the house and gave us a COVID test - twice - all negative. We're coming along pretty good. I think the worst is over. Got shorts on today and slid another Buck 055 in my pocket. Hope everyone is well. Scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast.

Congrats on yesterday's game.👍🏻
Thanks Bob!

That’s good news Ed, happy to hear it!
