OK, as a Yankee Peddler lover of all things cheap yet good, wouldestous, could you give me an overview on the qualities and shortcomings of the knives in your second photo? I'm particularly interested in the Aitor and Mercator, especially as they compare to the more commonly found Opinel Carbon you've got in there. Thanx!

Carrying my Trevor Ablett Sheepsfoot Barlow today. I'd be out taking some more pics, but the "Blistering Bank Holiday Weekend" we were promised has (typically) not materialised!

Rain your way as well? Ah, Yurkshire summers.

Just the Kneissler for me today.

The slipjoint version of the pattada. Used it to cut carrots to sticks suitable for wegetable wok.

I was tired of the Lierenaar becoming a fixed blade while using it for food prep. It soaked up water like a sponge and you couldn't open or close it anymore. If you think Opinel knives have problems with wood swelling, they ain't got nothing on the Lierenaar. So I decided to give it a lick of varnish. However, I kinda disliked the dull colour and the 90° angles of the wood at the butt of the handle. So I did some minor sanding to round out the edges at the butt, so that it corresponds more to the rest of the finish of the knife (the edges of the wood are rounded near the backspring as well. I also gave it a lick of paint, let it dry and varnished it. This morning it was dry and I tried carrying it, but I soon noticed that the varnish wasn't thick enough since I could still see some dull spots here and there. Before applying a new coat of varnish, I quickly snapped these shots. I thought some of you might appreciate it. When it's dry now, it should be good to go. I only need to clean up the backspring a bit from painting and varnishing, as well as the brass O-rings on the pivot.

My Eureka arrived last evening. I am a bit smitten with this one for sure. It will be riding with the Pemberton this weekend.

I had knee surgery yesterday and due to a lack of forethought (all of my knives are in the basement), I'll have to carry this swayback jack for a few days. Not that I'll be needing a more burly knife. So far it's only job has been to cut off my I.D. bracelet.
I could be stuck with a worse choice that's for sure.

P.S. hydrocodone makes typing defucilt/

Clutchcarter, take care and get well soon! PS I've got the same model swayback, and it's a gem.
