I was tired of the Lierenaar becoming a fixed blade while using it for food prep. It soaked up water like a sponge and you couldn't open or close it anymore. If you think Opinel knives have problems with wood swelling, they ain't got nothing on the Lierenaar. So I decided to give it a lick of varnish. However, I kinda disliked the dull colour and the 90° angles of the wood at the butt of the handle. So I did some minor sanding to round out the edges at the butt, so that it corresponds more to the rest of the finish of the knife (the edges of the wood are rounded near the backspring as well. I also gave it a lick of paint, let it dry and varnished it. This morning it was dry and I tried carrying it, but I soon noticed that the varnish wasn't thick enough since I could still see some dull spots here and there. Before applying a new coat of varnish, I quickly snapped these shots. I thought some of you might appreciate it. When it's dry now, it should be good to go. I only need to clean up the backspring a bit from painting and varnishing, as well as the brass O-rings on the pivot.

East of Eden eh? I have that book in my desk in rotation ready to read once I'm done with Winds of War.

Interesting knife as well.

Decided to go au natural for a change with a new knife...

been peelin' 'taters, peelin' beets, cuttin' up raw meat, and eatin' with this one for a few days now ;)

Had planned on doing some fishing but wind and impending rain forced me to hang around the house.

Put my two newest case knives in my pocket....going to put a dent in that bottle this afternoon.

Here's mine.

Off topic but the beer geek in me had to note that picture. I've had a few from that brewery and thought they were well done. Love the mouse as well.

Back to knives...I carried this no dot 62009 1/2 today after a first round of sharpening.

Story behind the knife here.

Case/Bose collaboration Norfolk. One of my favorite knives. Maybe I'll come across a stick to whittle today.

Helped moving a friend of mine from one corner of town to another.
I had a hard, but nice day to help her with her with that.... :)

All this recent talk of #73s vs #23s made me (made me, I tell ya!) grab my stag #73 linerlock today. No resisting it.
