What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This is a folder by Chambriard in Le Thiers France, every time I think I need to get more money to buy more stuff...read knives ;)...I look to the two of these I have for some reason, BUT when I take them out and put them to use, they are really very nice knives and realize I shouldn't be trying to sell them!! very very keen of edge, they use the 13c27 sandvik steel in them and it does take a nice cutting edge for a stainless steel, the knives have pretty massive stainless steel bolsters and file worked back spring, yep, I like em :)

Carrying today is the Le Compact, the smaller version of folder they make, with curly birch scales, people at work thought they were stag scales, boy I live alone at work hahaha!

Northwoods/Queen cutlery gunstock. This thing is a real gem. Tight fit n' finish, pretty much flush when blade is open. some of the prettiest bone I own...

Very nice Blaine, I was hoping they would do a Northfield version in that antique yellow/autumn gold jig.... whatever they are callin it these days. Thats a bit of an odd couple there..

the Kellam I rediscovered yesterday is much healthier. I could almost hear slurping sounds as it absorbed the oil!

Many thanks to Eric at Canal Street Cutlery for making this knife about as perfect as a pocket knife can be. The man is a consummate cutler.

Ha! You should see the nontrad in the other pocket; it makes for a really weird trio, for sure.

Two great knives for today, Brian :)

As well as you, FES!! These GEC made Schrades are great looking knives.

Gary I have really grown to appreciate Sandvik steel, I only own a few, mostly French, and one Boker, really good stuff, I wouldn't mind if more traditional knife makers used it, takes a keen edge and keeps it.

Pete

I agree Pete, between these and my Opinel's I can tell a pretty good difference in how well each gets an edge, the Chambriards seem to be markedly better than the Opinel, for me at least. While the Opinel's also attain a great edge, the Chambriard's edge seems more refined and just cuts cleaner, I was surprised at the difference.
