Ice storm carry

Maybe the warm color of your knife will make you feel warm. I don't like ice storms.

The temp's hovering around freezing. We're in for a Wintry mix all morning & another round coming for Saturday.

I noticed before I went to bed that it was 64 degrees at Kentucky's south border, 43 degrees here in central KY. and 33 degrees at the north border of the state. It poured rain like out of buckets through the early morning. We got 2.6 inches of rain overnight, but, I noticed a vey large pink shield showing on the radar north of our border. Nice looking custom Buck, by the way ! 😊

Thank you. I waited patiently, (Well, maybe not so patiently), for Buck to offer a 112 in Magnacut. I had already decided on the walnut slabs & brass bolsters, so when I got the e-mail that they were available, I had one ordered within minutes. I'm not disappointed. It's been on my belt every day for the past six months, except for when I carried a custom 110 in Magnacut in honour of 1/10.

As for the weather, well if it's going to be crappy, I'd rather it be snow, but it's February in PA, so......:)

I don't think so, maybe some mineral oil
Thanks for the info.:thumbsup: I've rubbed mineral oil on mine a few times, and it just soaks it right up. Maybe I need to try a good soaking to see if that "quenches its thirst."

Locking Knife of the Week is a Marble's Safety Folder my wife gave me for Father's Day a couple of years ago. It has a strange (to me) locking method in which the blade-holding extension off the butt of the knife folds up into the blade well right against the tang of the open blade to prevent the blade from closing.

Esee PR4
Dunlap Shadow Trapper

PR4 lives in the kitchen but is getting the heavier lifting for housework today. No knife tonight, concert.

5K Qs 5K Qs , hi Gary, I have used linseed oil on a lot of wood, including a couple knife handles. I am careful, take my time and maybe multiple passes, so not to get more than I bargain for. If I can find a before/after, I'll tag you.

I think it maybe a sheepsfoot, but who knows?? Only because of the spine is flat. I have a half dozen or so Wolstenholm's from this era, and every hawkbills spine raises towards the tip.

This one came from a gentleman who's last name was Voos, in NW Ohio. He was parting with his 70+ year collection. He picked it up in the late 60's early 70's as an honest Pruner. I've been meaning to ask Neal about it but I'm too forgetful!
I only mentioned the possibility because of this old Klein. Badly worn tip on the hawk, so I re-shaped it. Which was why I bought it ~ just for messing around fun.

The scales are bakelite.

Carrying my KRoo lamb and 38 Whittler. The Whittler has proven to be difficult to kick out. I am amazed at how this knife is made. I don’t know how they fit those blades in there so perfect. Unfortunately for my pocket book…. I’m starting to like these split back whittlers.

I used the dark brown Fiebings leather dye. Cleaned it first with acetone and heated it up in a 200 degree oven for about five minutes a couple of times. It just keeps getting darker each time. I thought that I would give it a few days to set in or fully dry, then I'll swab on another coat or two.

I have never gotten results that I like with PP. It usually just changes the color a little bit. Maybe I haven't used it correctly. Any tips on ratio to mix, etc. ?

It's so cold your knives changed color ....... frost bit ! 😲 🤣

That turned out nice ! One of a kind ! 👍😍 Did you dye it yourself ?
Not much help, it's been too long.
Here's an old short line Camillus that was faded bad that I used PP on. Pocket wear is causing the high points on the jigging to revert to that faded out color.
