That looks like the roads I drive everyday to work, Ed.

Case Knife of the Week is a chestnut jigged bone CV mini trapper. I'm quite happy with the bone color on this one. Also, the photo accurately indicates that I prefer the spey blade on this knife.

Colonial/Imperial/Schrade Knife of the Week is an Imperial serpentine clip/pen jack that once belonged to my father-in-law, who gave it to his daughter who I eventually married in 1985, and she eventually gave it to me in January 2014. Cleaning up this knife at that time inspired me to start carrying a pocketknife again, after a 45-year break, and soon led me to BladeForums and a life of knife-ish profligacy.

I know that everyone will be carrying their new Lambsfoot today, possibly even pairing it with their City Stock. Two absolutely superb knives and worthy of pocket time.

I decided to wait a bit on the Lambsfoot honeymoon and instead pocket two other absolute beauties (my opinion)…the BF Humpback and the .38 Special Beavertail on this very, very cold and crisp morning. I hope my photo shows the feeling of just how crisp it is. :)

Happy hump day, Porchsters!

Gary, that stag 389 is amazing! 😎
Thanks, Lance. :)
When I became infected with canoe-itis back in 2014, the only Buck canoe I knew about was a wood-handled 389; they were easy to get almost anywhere. But as I did some digging around at BF and other online sites, I became aware that Buck had made canoes with a variety of covers, including stag and bone, back in about 2008 IIRC. I did some hunting for those for awhile without much success. But then I stumbled upon some website based in Idaho that seemed to sell mostly NOS knives they came up with somewhere. They had a Buck stag canoe, and I took a chance on ordering, even though I knew nothing about the sellers. When I got it, everything was better than I had dreamed! I went back to the website, thinking maybe I could pick up a few more stag canoes to use as trades or gifts, but they had no more in stock; I like to think I was lucky enough that I bought the last one!

...
In for bonestag or how about winterbottom bone? That’s what winter beer drinking gives me so seems appropriate 🤣
🤓 Sure, why not?!?
Speaking of winterbottom bone, which I think was a popular Queen handle material, my daughter got me a Chinese Queen canoe with what they called winterbottom bone (but also reminds me of stag bone), single spring, and 440C blades. I had seen the knife at an online dealer and sent my daughter links to a few knives I had on my wish list there as possible birthday gift suggestions. She decided on the canoe, and I was totally surprised that it had just one spring and 440C!

Love the Tinker. Killer tool.
Thanks, Dave. :) I like some of the "thick" SAKs, but a Tinker (or even Recruit) along with a Minichamp can handle a LOT of situations.

Sweet Sowbelly Gary!
Thanks, Lance. :) I like the blade combo of a stockman, I like the shape and almost sunk joints of a sowbelly stockman, and I like stag. So that Rough Rider is definitely Win-Win-Win for me.

Good question, honestly they had no relationship when we first thought of the name Elliot.
We narrowed it down to that or August (to have an Augie or Gus). When we realised it was very similar to Ellie it helped us decide.
Interesting! Thanks for answering my nosey personal question, Jack.:thumbsup:🤓

I believe mine is oak
Thanks for the info about your French barrel knife.:cool:
Did you apply any kind of treatment (oil, stain, tea leaves, etc.) to the wood on yours that might have darkened it?

Sad to hear about such big losses for so many operations in your area.
I can't say that I had thought about avian flu in my birds.
Thanks for the reply, Dan. My problem is I worry about all kinds of stuff I can do nothing about! :rolleyes:o_O

@5KQs~
Come on spring amuses January and February.
Jeff, those months may be amused by my fervent hopes for the arrival of spring. But at the time I wrote that January only had a week or so left, and February is an incredibly short month, so I'll join screened porch screened porch in claiming that spring is just around the corner! ;)

Beauty of a 46
The 46 would have been a good pattern for Case to bring out of the vault. Here's a two blade, a stockman and a whittler:

Todays carry: ironwood 88
Thanks, Mike. :)
That's an impressive trio of humpbacks you have!!:thumbsup::cool:
Your Lambbelly 88 is a desirable GEC!:cool::thumbsup:
I guess you're in TN now, but I hope you get healthy soon!
