Now there's an Electrician/Linesman I've never seen!
Any idea of it's age?
I’ve always heard that square hole is a Prest-o-lite key. Prest-o-lites were acetylene automobile headlights.I think that the square hole is for turning on and off gas valves, which may date it to before electric lights were commonplace. But that is just wild speculation on my part.

It really doesn't get any better than that. Smokin' HotCase large Stockman today.

You can say that again!but that shadow lamb is particularly stunning!
I can see why they are favorites! I bet those both carry great!A couple of old fave’s, a boys knife and a single blade peanut. View attachment 2810972

Ol’ Colonial all metal jack in the pocket with the forum knife for thrifty Thursday. The steel on these old knives take such a great edge with hardly any effort
No. See here's my free advice, which of course is worth exactly what you're paying for it ~
While I like the way other guy's dye jobs have turned out, they lose the most attractive part. The polished white bone where they tapered it down to mate up with the bolsters is the best looking part of it all. It sets off the dye in the middle.
Of course, lots disagree, which is fine.
You could dye the bone, then polish the ends back to white if your tastes are like mine.

Tell me about your canine, Yann. Male or female? And what breed is it?
Handsome animal.
Useless analogy:
Teeth are like pocket knives. You can keep them all pretty, or use them for what the Good Lord made them for.
I vote Wagon Wheel.
Glad to hear that, Dan. Sat with Mom several times in the hospital while my Father In Law had his procedures. Sometimes they need to do more.
Handsome but fearsome looking dog you have Yann
But, that ought to keep any undesirable idiots away from you or your property![]()
More free advice, and from a guy who doesn’t even own the knife but has been admiring them from many posted photos: I agree on the keeping natural bone! The dyeing has become a frenzy. While I like the way other guy's dye jobs have turned out, they lose the most attractive part

I can't say for sure, my paternal grandparent's place (constructed c.1860~1865) had all the gas light pipes capped when electric was installed, c.19-aughts~early 19-teens. (long before they bought the place.)I’ve always heard that square hole is a Prest-o-lite key. Prest-o-lites were acetylene automobile headlights.
