This is a bit tricky to explain, you could try laying the flat of the bottle opener on the top of the bottle, tilt the butt of the knife downwards until the hooked part of the opener catches under one of the pleats then lift..... You'll need a firm grip to stop the knife twisting. I've no idea if it'll work but it does with one of my bottle openers!

Lucky dog. Im still on the hunt for one.
Very very nice, I know you've been looking for awhile now---happy that one came your way
I had and sold one---sellers remorse to say the least but comforting to know it went to a good home. I had to tweak mine with a dremel and it ended up being one of the best caplifters ever...
Congrats again on finding one.
Paul
Sounds interesting. I'll have to look into picking up a needle file.
I really like the smooth look some people have attained doing the cap/lifter mod. I suspect they used a dremel to make it look so perfect. I also wonder if GEC would fix it under warranty?
I was able to open up a bottle this evening using a similar method, but there was definitely no twisting of the knife going on. It was too much work in any case, and I think I'll need to modify it to make it work well.
I definitely feel lucky to have landed this one. I've been searching for quite a long while now.
Thanks Paul, I appreciate it! I don't think I'll be letting this one go anytime soon. I learned that lesson with a copperhead charlow (biggest knife selling regret as of yet)!

If you did decide to mod it I would go for a large chainsaw file. 7/32 would give you a smoother, more rounded finish.

Very nice Boker, Daddyo16! Can you tell us more about it?
Good to see you found your Aitor again Jack![]()
