Hey, your "safety" or "eagle beak" can opener on your Imperial is stamped "Pat Pend", so based on the info on the link I recently sent you about the patent for that can opener, your knife was almost certainly made between Nov 1944 (patent application filed) and Christmas 1945 (patent approved/issued), unless Imperial had a bunch of Pat. Pend. can openers they still had to use up after the patent was officially issued.View attachment 2934040
Yep. Bakelite(?) covers and short screwdriver. I don't believe they are celluloid. I "think" the mark side cover/bolster gap is due to being overly trimmed or the mold was a little short. No indications of outgassing anywhere on the knife.
(Kodak used black, brown, and I think green bakelite for cameras in that time frame. I had a black bakelite 620 roll film Kodak TLR camera, and a brown bakelite 127 roll film Kodak "Brownie" camera back in the 1960's. Both were "point & shoot" with fixed focus and fixed exposure. (Tho the "Brownie" could use a removable flash with bulbs.)
Love to see a GEC with a lot of miles on it!This eveningView attachment 2934211
Nice dye job on a well-configures knife!![]()

I see England,
In the late 1960s, there was a novel titled Trout Fishing in America by a guy named Brautigan. I think hippies liked it, although its relevance to actual trout fishing was quite minimal.Today, we drove a twisty back road alongside the South Platte River. Mile after mile of what looked like primo trout habitat.
Alas, it's not that kind of trip.
Maybe next time.
Very belated congrats to you and your bride on your matrimonial merger!View attachment 2935298View attachment 2935299My wedding day today. The ‘24 BF stockman is what I consider “my” knife n the Texas Jack was my Grandpa’s that he had on him every day since he got it in ‘70. They’ll be in my pocket today. They’re not small so hopefully they don’t show up too much in the wedding pics lol
I agree that's a useful pattern, Frank!Taylor-Schrade 93 OT Serpentine Jack with sheepsfoot and an extreme California Clip. I've only seen this combination from Schrade / Taylor Schrade. It's one of my favorite patterns.

Welcome back, Buzz!
Love the groovy stag on your AC!
I have one of those, ED, and think it's a superb knife!Seems there's a bit of Sowbelly traffic this morning so I'm breaking out a Imperial Schrade IMP 25 Sowbelly to carry today. The handle material is POM (Polyoxymethylen) Sausage and scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Senior moments to come. I thought those were somewhere in the future for me, Bob, but they seem to have snuck up on me.Thanks kindly Gary, the grain, rather than the design, guided my impulse.
Finding the knife just reminded me of all the senior mo.ents to come.
I hope you are doing well.
Congrats on your first Moore Maker, Greg; looks like a great addition to your fine bunch of whittlers! This one arrived yesterday and went into my pocket for the day, and likely again tomorrow. I was able to land this one from a good forum member on the exchange. thanks Matt. My first Moore Maker and a fine knife indeed, very happy to add this one to my collection.

Thanks for the fascinating tang stamp info!@Oldy found that one. It is a mark of F.W. Jordan. The dancing Dutch children mark was registered in 1908 and, according to Carter's "German Knife and Sword Makers" was used on a wide range of knives. F.W. Jordan was still making knives in 2001.
Fine pair of knives, Tyson; I especially like that sleeveboard pen knife!Albers lamb and Wright Bros. pen knife.

A large stockman seems like a great choice to me (and I'd suggest you consider a sowbelly stockman pattern).![]()
Those two became a true friends in my pocket right now. Though I must admit that by some reason Stockman is more often used than trapper. I thought it will be other way around. Probably I need to buy a large stockman to have best things combined![]()
Thanks for the additional photos, including the Taylor tang stamp.Definitely along the same lines.

My first thought was, "What a thoughtful dog. Taking it outside to open rather than making a mess inside."Carrying a simple, plain, 3347 SS Stockman with composite covers today. "Abby" the Hoarder has figured out how to open the twist off cap on plastic water bottles and my Gator Aid plastic bottles. She holds the bottle down with he paw and chomps down on the twist off lid with her teeth and very strong bite. That distorts the threads and the bottle cap pops right off. While we were in town yesterday, she took a brand new six-pack of my orange flavored Gator Aid off the kitchen table, took them through the doggie door and took them out in the backyard, bit the tops off two bottles and we think drank to her delight or else spilled the contents into the grass. She's a pistol alright. I guess she was put out at us for taking her to the Vet earlier in the day and getting her Kennel Cough Vaccine shot and her nails trimmed. She just hates having a muzzle on her when getting her nails trimmed. Sausage and biscuits for breakfast.

Thinking in terms of timing. Don't they do the Hokey Pokey early while the kids haven't burned out yet, and Mustag Salley after open bar starts?I hope everything came out well for Abby at the vet. Please tell her hi from Lacey and Whiskey.
Your priorities trouble me. I'm down with listening and dancing to Mustang Sally, but wanna duck out when The Hokey Pokey comes on.
I lack the methodical disipline and prefer the willy nilly surprises when I start opening cigar boxes. Of course some forethought based on chores comes in.I recently finished an update to my weekly rotation schedule that incorporates all the knives I've picked up since the last time I revised the schedule in March 2024. I started using that old rotation schedule on March 17, 2024 (which would have been my parents' 73rd wedding anniversary if my Mom were still alive), and I'll start using the new schedule today, August 3, 2025 (one day before my Dad's 95th birthday).
My new schedule uses the same 11 categories of knives as the old schedule used; I carry one knife from each category each week, except I always carry 2 "canoes of the week". In most categories, I've designated a list of "Top Ten (or maybe 12)" knives, and in each category I carry a Top Ten knife every other week. So after 20 weeks, I'll have carried each of my Top Ten knives for a week, and will start repeating the Top Ten, while I keep working through the list of not-Top-Ten with no repeats. So I get to carry my favorite knives more often than my not-so-favorite, but EVERY knife still gets a chance to be carried at least once over the duration of the schedule (which covers at least 80 weeks in each category), and that's the main purpose of the schedule! Without further ado...
Canoes of the Week are a Case canoe from 1975 (a Top Ten canoe for me) and a Fightin' Rooster 4-blade gunboat:

Affirmative. One of the reasons I "think" it is post war production.Hey, your "safety" or "eagle beak" can opener on your Imperial is stamped "Pat Pend", so based on the info on the link I recently sent you about the patent for that can opener, your knife was almost certainly made between Nov 1944 (patent application filed) and Christmas 1945 (patent approved/issued), unless Imperial had a bunch of Pat. Does yours have brass liners?
At least Abby’s electrolytes shouldn’t be low! You’ve got quite the character there Ed!Carrying a simple, plain, 3347 SS Stockman with composite covers today.
